  1. Thanks Robyn. Tuesday Night we had a budgie meeting Christmas breakup and we were to take along unbroken caps and young birds. I took one unbroken cap and a few young birds along. A Champion breeder won best unbroken cap and I won best young bird with my cobalt opaline spangle, son of my white Df spangle, brother to Kaz's white DF spangle. On the night I won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places with the young birds. This is him here is a lovely big powerful bird, with good feather, length and shoulder and lovely head. Very strong family.
  2. My feather duster I had last year was a thin as, the keel bone was razer sharp. But then he died at 8 weeks. So I guess some make it and some don't. I didn't breed any this year, happy about that, Oh there was one that I thought might of been but died before I could make my mind up and he was nearly 5 weeks old. But had the look.
  3. Really gorgeous how the cockatiels get nosey.
  4. Thanks Kaz But still have a fair bit of work yet, but they are looking good. Need to work on length of mask next, especially with all those out crosses, they all seem to have short mask.
  5. Thanks Sunny. Here are a few of the White Df spangle chicks, they had 6 chicks, 2x white df spangles, 1x grey spangle,1x sky blue cinn spangle, 1x violet cinn spangle and one grey cinn spangle White Df spangle Sky cinn spangle Violet cinn spangle White df spangle Cobalt spangle

    Hello and welcome.
  7. A few more photos. These two, I showed earlier but look how they are coming on, really excited This is dad a grey, full brother to violets This is mum a cobalt opaline These are their young Mauve opaline grey Still in the nest a grey opaline and another still in the nest a cobalt I am really wrapped with this nest, The 2 oldest a very stylish especially the opaline but the grey is stunning when he blows his head.
  8. Thank you Kaz, they are turning out good. I am just noticing some of them are going to be really nice.
  9. Yes I they tend to copy one and other, cute I think. I call my 2 little ones cheeky but they keep playing and chewing my hair.
  10. Thanks Sunnie, yes they are nice and if I was still beginner I would be wrapped but I don't think they have that wow factor that my white boys do. I will soon fine out in the show season but some of them have dropped their tail and I have a feeling they are going to tailess wonders. But still I am happy at the way most of them are turning out. I have a lovely nest of spangles coming on and I am really excited and a nest of normals that are really really nice. But then I can't show those purple rings until 2112.
  11. This is dad of the grey green spangle hen above and below, He has lost some of his larger spots and mum daughter of the yellow df spangle their only 2 young
  12. She is gorgeous. I have 2 in my baby aviary that everytime I go in there and stand and study the birds 2 of them come up and chew on my hair, they are very friendly.
  13. Oops, I am sure if I can't make one that the airport sells them, inquire there. They are ment to be light weight and small.
  14. Hi all, seems like I am the only one on this thread, but I will keep amusing myself This is the grey green spangle the other day but I got some better photos yesterday, you can see how she is going be very nice. Cobalt spangle, from my violet spangle hen and a mauve cock an outcross have this hen down at the moment with 6 chicks from my white Df spangle, they are looking good.
  15. Hi and Welcome, your birds are lovely, what other sort of birds do you have, did I see love birds or are they parrots.
  16. Congratulations Robin, lovely photo.
  17. Very nice sunny, really like the last one

Hello and Welcome. I actually have a job looking after someones exhibition birds. I am his aviary assistant. I feed, water, ring and clean a bit, and mostly make sure all is well and all birds are looking healthy. Some times when he is away I know more about his birds than he does lol. And what's good about it, is I am learning more and I get heaps of help and I get paid for it. It's actually a good job.
  20. Looks like a mauve or violet spangle to me. But the throat spots don't look dark enough. From my computer doesn't look cinnamon but the body colour is light. I think some one else can have a guess.
  21. My birds love corn too, Great idea RIP, going to give that a whirl.
  22. The way I see it with my birds (just wait and see), I have had chicks with the pinkist ceres and you would swear boy but have turned out to be girls. Keep us informed have he turns out. If he turns into a she.
  23. He it stunning hey Dean, He has width all the way down. I tried to put the parents together again to get more because I only got this one but she went a bit egg bound, she could be ruined not sure. will give her another chance next year. But I have got a daughter from her but different father. The father an outcross, maybe I can put this boy and her together next year and see what happens. This is her, opaline cinn light green, but she doesn't have the head he has. They are both split for blue. Her dad a sky.
  24. Thank you Matt. I am trying to develop my own style, I have been told by a few breeders that my birds have a particular look, so I guess I am almost a stud, well getting there slowly. I did bring in birds this year totally unrelated from a breeder but they didn't mix that well and I feel the look was gone but at the same time they were out crosses, next year when I put them back into my line hopefully I should get good results. This breeder has some outstanding birds too. I have 2 lines going but both lines extend from my wow bird, a grey green spangle cock bird. I used 2 different hens on him and branched out with those 2 hens. So I have the spangle/Df spangle line and the violet/normal line. This violet green is also the violets son, I put him with his half sister and father is the yellow df spangle. I think this mating paid off. The 2 lines brought together.
