  1. Hi everyone, here are some photos of some of my blue ringers, and a couple of birds that were blue rings but I cut their rings off and now they are red ringers because last year between September and December I double ringed. BIG mistake and will never do it again. Sorry no pics yet because I am having trouble coping and pasting from photo bucket. Is any one else having problems because it has changed or is it me only. Every time I try to select a photo to copy it doesn't high light for me to do it, it just comes up as copy in where it should be high lighted and then just disappears and some some global setting and something about flash player comes up. Instead of copy when I click on thee mouse. SO can any one help please. What I mean is when I select the IMG code it normally highlights so then you can select copy by clicking the mouse BUT now when I select the IMG code it flashes copy then goes away.
  2. Didn't get the job, sucks, I am actually really disappointed. Depressed all over again. I was hoping my money worries were all over.
  3. Thank you all for your well wishes Well back from my interview, I think I went well but they are interviewing more people yet, But I will know by tomorrow, Thursday the latest and If I get the job, I start Friday. But it is a management job In the Deli so I am thinking my chances are slim. Not enough experience in that field. But you never know. Plus I am useless at interviews I go to jelly, all the questions go plank in my head until I get out of there and then I have heaps of them. God I had interviews. But I will keep looking if I miss out, I will be dissapointed but I really didn't want to work in a dele but I am so desperate for a job with more hours anything will do. Fingers are crossed.

He is lovely, Only just saw this post but I to could see the white where Gb saw and thought pied too, and it looks like his wings are white without the black out line. BUT my answer is miles tooooo late because the later picture shows him pied. But really he is a nice bird. Just seen the new addition, wow 2 more pieds doing great, I only got one pied the year but she is nice though. The original is very nice too.
  7. Very nice Dave, I like the yellow faces too.
  8. That sounds good, clearbody split albino. and maybe lute, I want to bred more clearbodies next year. My lutino is split greywing NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT, but he is a nice big bird for a lute so I am keeping him. I will probably make my trip in a few weeks. After Christmas.
  9. That sounds great we can do it all. I will give plenty of notice I think. But I have to come home with an albino hen lol
  10. Gb Mark can toss one or two this way too lol. Lovely birds Mark
  11. You have improved in huge steps GB since last year. I love your birds. Well done. I think I might come for a drive and have a look in person. A day out soon after Christmas, lol I drove to Leeton last week 3 and something hours each way and I got my seed and headed home straight away . But at least if I came to your place I could have a huge break before heading back.
  12. Very nice Gb, I like the albino too, I need a good albino hen for my clearbody but now I have bred a lovely clear body hen I would also like a nice albino cock. Let me know when you have some spare ones.

Matt I run mine all together but before I put them down I seperate them 3 weeks before hand. I put all cocks into together and hens together just so I know the hen hasn't been mated before hand. Other people run them all together all the time but it is all up to you. I have all old cock birds with young hens and all old hens with young cocks birds.

Your welcome Matt, glad I could help. Hey what program did you use to design you birdroom and aviaries?
  15. splat replied to Matt G's topic in Aviaries
Yes that looks much better, I think go for it. My aviaries are out door but only have wire on the front. I do have one in between my 2 breeding rooms that I have now. I call it my baby aviary, it is very inclosed almost like an indoor aviary. But I am planning on making the end one into 2 3ftx10ft long aviaries and using my baby aviary for holding cages. (I think). But my breeding room is going to be all in one place. I think again lol. Well Matt if you run them along the breed room and depending where the wire is going you can always run more along them one later, you know one minute you have 2 aviaries and the next a heap.lol. But seriously I have found the more enclosed the better because show birds don't like cold windy aviaries. But at the same time they need circulation especially in the summer. In the winter my out door ones and also the baby aviary is covered in Clear PCV to keep the wind out. It is only open on the bottom for circulation. Oh Matt for the height, I think taller the better.

Hi Matt, i am in the middle of making a new bird room, I was going to have a flight on one side 3ft x 10 ft but decided to have the room for breeding only. My shed is 10ftx10ft. 215cm high at the side walls and 254cm high at the peak of the gable. I have lined mine with builders foil and non structual pine. i am using bats on the wall and ceiling. You can have a look at mine in my post if you want, it is in the aviary section. I personally think that the 21/2 foot high thing would be a pain. I also think 5ft is not long enough because the birds can't get into a good flight. I have one that long and I hardly use it because it is so short, I use it for my culls mainly. But your plan looks quite good to me. You will want more breeding cages in a year or to so maybe you should take that into consideration too. I would run the flights along the shed because it would keep the breed room shed walls cooler. But that's me Someone else will give you better advice than me so good luck with it all.
  17. Sorry Dean for hyjacking your post but I just had to congrat GB
  18. Wow Gb congrats on your 7th place with your lacewing at the UBC shield. That is a great effort because they say you are doing well if you place in the top 20 and extremely well in the top 10.
  19. Very very nice Nubbly, I wish I had bred some like that this year bu I didn't, had a bad year plus out crossed to much but there is always next year. Your chicks our outstanding from where I am sitting.
  20. He is very nice Dean, you must be proud of him.
  21. Remember my chick Dave, I got a greywing from a lutino cock and a dark green hen. 2nd round I got another one again but he died at 3 1/2 weeks. BUT that means my lutino is split grey wing and I am not really happy with that. BUT he is a nice lutino so I am keeping him.
  22. Wow that is excellent Dean, well done. Your bird sounds like a little beauty. Pics of bird and trophy

Yes it will be fine as long it is not a very hot day, try and pick them up on a day that is not hotter than say 30, Budgies get stressed on really hot days. Oh make sure your car is not hot when you put them in as that will kill them too.
  24. French moult is a virus so if you handle chicks from one nest and then move onto the next nest you will spread it, the best solution is to have a bucket of hot water ans soap where the breeding cages are and wash your hands between nest. When birds out taken out you should disinfect nest boxes and breeding cages.
  25. I am a skeptic but then I have had things happen. When my dad died suddenly the night before we viewed him I had a dream well I quess it was a dream, but we were all siting at mum and dads kitchen table and dad came up behind me and put his hand on my shoulder and said Julie don't worry everything will be okay and with that he was gone. The next day we all went to view him in his coffin, there were 3 visiting times that day. Well I stayed from 10 o'clock till 8 that night, by the time I finished rubbing his hand he was as warm as. What blew me away was he was wearing the same shirt I saw him in the night before and I had know idea what he was going to have on all I new was he didn't want a suit. Well anyway on the last visit my mum and brothers and sister all came and when we all finished saying our goodbyes we walked out and closed the door. We were out talking to Peter the funeral director asking question etc and he was trying to answer them when the door opened and closed on its own. We all jumped, mum yelled it's okay Al and she she said he is awake and went running in there followed closely by as all, dad was still lying in the coffin. Peter couldn't explain why that happened because there was no windows opened in that room. Another time years ago I would have dreams and one for example was I was driving my car in this small town somewhere and out bounced this ball and followed by a little kid. i breaked just in time. Several years later it happened but I reckonised the street and houses and pulled over and out bounced the ball and followed by a little kid, Frieked right out. But after saying all that I am still skeptic. But then I do like to think my day is watching over me.
