  4. I to would say poisoning, sad
  5. I bought a pair of birds about october last year, maybe even earlier, paid a fair bit of money for them, my point is the hen has only just now browned up in the cere, she has had a bluish cere the whole time. I was actually getting worried. I to like to let them settle in for a few months before putting them down.
  6. Congrats, lovely photo

I wouldn't know, I wouldn't give them to my birds. Jimmy chokos are disgusting, Greg grows them, they are tastless. They are a green spikey hard as vege, the size of a pear. This is a yukky choko
  8. I can't see the cinnamon on my screen, but he does look like a opaline clearbody, but his flights look to dark.
  9. BIRD ROOM back in action. excited..... Today I bought a couple of bags of bats, polyester thank god because putting it up on the ceiling was so hard, it kept falling down on me. I ended using string to keep it there. I have only done one panel took me forever. So hard. Anyway I bought all the wood for the ceiling. I had to get it all cut up n to panels, so it would fit in my little car. I bought 4 pieces of 8ml ply was 1200mmm wide and 2400mm long so I had to get them to cut it right down the middle so it was 600mm wide and then I ask them to cut it 147mm for my length, which is half the she ceiling, it fitted in the car that way. I ended up with 16 pieces all up.. It is a pain doing it like that but at least I can hold pieces like that up on my own but if I left it full length I would need help. The hardest thing was trying to keep the bats in place and after using the string it still was bulgie. But just the one piece I did was great couldn't feel the heat from the roof at all, but where i haven't done was quite warm. Tomorrow I will have another go at. I hope to get one whole side done tomorrow if I can. Will take some photos of my work if I get time. I am just hoping all my joins turn out neat and tidy or I would of wasted a heap of money.
  10. Thanks Kaz but they aren't in the birdroom, they are out in the open aviary and a zapper is no option because there is no power at all to the aviaries. Greg would never allow me to put a zapper there anyway. But I will get one for the veranda so that stop eating us. You know how some people are scared of spiders, well I have a fear of mosquitoes, freak out when they land on me, I am a big sook.
  11. Hate moving, have fun Kaz. No it will be worth it when all done. I live in a house in Bendigo with 13ft ceilings, it was wonderful, cool all summer but I must say it was freezing in the winter, too large to warm it up, the kids and I use to sit and watch tv with blankets over us. But I loved the summer because it never got hot in there, So yours could be the same Kaz.
  12. Thanks Nerwen lol. It does sound better when you explained. Yes you will either or both inos or TCB hens and all split cocks for ino and TCB.
  13. TCB cock: All hens TCB and all cocks will be split for TCB, but then if he is split ino you will get ino hens too and split ino cocks, all on average over a period of breeding. With my TCB I got 1 TCB hen, 1 Lutino hen and all split cocks. Of coarse some will be pied or masking pied because of the hen. Depends if your TCB is split for blue to if you get any blue, you know you hen is. Some chicks will be cinn and opaline too because of mum and your cock could opaline or split for both. Gee I think I am making a mess of this.
  14. Hi Chooky I thought the Pea Beu was ment to safe with budgies. I don't think they are biting either, but boy are they biting me.
  15. We have mosquitoes by the millions here, never seen in thing like all my life. Just where we sit on the back veranda is horrible. The aviary and bird room is covered in them too. I spray them in the day with Pea Beu but there is not much I can do at night. Greg went down to his pigeons tonight with the fly spray because they were jumping around everywhere and he there were twillions of them. He said the poor birds. Well I was wondering what can happen to the budgies as they heaps smaller than pigeons have a lot less blood in them. I can't go out at night and spray the aviaries because the birds will got nuts. I have been laying in bed thinking about it and I came up with the idea of putting flyscreen material or shade mesh over all the wire so the mosquitoes can't get in, BUT what a huge job and more expense just when I am ready to buy my materials to finish my new bird room. But then if the mosquitoes kill the birds then I won't need a birdroom. Has anyone got any suggestions or know if the mosquitoes can make the birds sick or kill them by sucking all their blood.
  16. Thank you Sunnie, he is a lovely bird. Yes I was wrapped about winning at the meeting because I wasn't expecting to so it was a bonus.
  17. I think from those photos that she is a boy, cere looks very blue to me, can't see any white on it. But pretty little violet spangle.
  18. Yes I think you are right Kaz because I noticed that the couple feather dusters that I have had have been huge fat chicks, but once the parents stop feeding them they loose weight nearly over night. Mine have died from starvation I think.
  19. Sorry to hear about your loss Dave, 2 birds in one day sucks. t's good you have young from them. I had a couple die earlier in the year on different days and they were my top birds, found them on the floor of the aviary and today this day I have no idea why, they looked healthy before hand and when I found them they had not lost any weight and they didn't have pooey bums, they just died.
  20. Sorry Kaz for your loss, Dusty lasted longer than I thought as mine don't. So you did a great job looking after him. Thanks RIP on your autopsy and write up very interesting.
  21. They are really good Dean, love them, they seem to be a strong family, you have done well for someone having a bad year. Pleased for you.
  22. Pleased is doing better, it's amazing what a of warmth does for a budgie.
  23. Thanks Dean, Yes I think I have a stud on this line because it is a strong family as I was told the other night at the meeting and they all have the same look. The old boy the dad, but I have based this line off the yellow df spangle his son, and this boy is the son of the son of the yellow df spangle. So meaning they are throwing me good birds all the time. Pretty happy.
  24. If she is fluffed up and very quite and vomiting, I would say she is very sick, could be sour crop or canker or something completely different . I would put in a small cage and a heat lamb for warm but she will probably need medication. Good luck with her and I hope it is nothing and she gets better. Oh your local normal vet could give you some medication for her.
  25. I agree with Kaz and Dave, I was wondering how you came up with clear flight Dave, when my first thought was DF spangle yellow face, and knowing I would probably be wrong but then there were no parent pics. Cute little boy too
