Not All "dead" Chicks Are...
That's a great post Kas, :ausb: My first year of breeding I found a cold one and was about to dispose of it when Greg told me to cup it in my hands and blow warm air on it. WOW it worked. I have save a quite a few like that since, mainly last breeding season, Have saved 2 this year. I was angry with one hen because I found one ice cold and I held it and breathed warm air for ages, then yep it starting wiggling, never ceases to amaze me but I put it back in the nest and everything was good till the next day, it was going fine in the morning but by late afternoon it was dead, it had a full crop so not sure what happened, it wasn't flattened but the head was white and the body was still pink weird, mayby it something wrong withit. :dbb1:

Baby Identification
Gee now it looks like a grey green cinnamon as I first thought not a spangle. The 2 spangles, did you say father and son, if that's the case and the mother is normal and the father is split for cinnamon you have 25% chance of the son being split also. I think that's right.

Why Are They Eating The Nesting Boxes?
I put a piece of 2x1 pine onto the removable concave floor for them to chew, and they really go for it too.

What Are The Best Type Of Budgies For Beginers To Start Showing With.
Yes that's right Daz, both cinn and opaline are popping up every where here, nearly all cock birds that we have bought seem to be split for one or both. I only ever bought one cinn hen and now I have heaps and the same goes for opline.

What Are The Best Type Of Budgies For Beginers To Start Showing With.
When I started out, I had everything, dominant Pied, Recessive Pied, Albino, Lutino normal, spangle, Well now all I have is normal with of course the cinn and opaline, spangle and Dominant Pied and yellow face. I am finding yellow face a pain in the bum lately because it can mask behind the green and then it just pops up everywhere. But yellow face is Dominant also. A breeder told me for a beginner you shouldn't try to have yo many types and to focus on a couple and that the dominant varieties are easier. Because you get what you see where's recessive you can't see it but it is there. Meaning it will show but dominant you ever get or you don't. Gee I don't know whether I have made a lot of sense with this. But my point is keep it simple

Neat maybe one of the parents is split for cinnamon, if so the red eyes will go black looking soon about 8 days onwards.

Disaster In The Baby Aviary
No Daz, I took over some droppings off the ones that look a bit iffy and some off the ones in the flight and still nothing conclusive. Needs a dead one for the autopsy but I am not going to sacrafice one yet till I know for sure it is going to die. So he wants me to continue with the trimidine treatmeant. Then another test if still showing signs of illness. At the moment they are on there 3 day break and I start again tomorrow for another 5 days. That must be the cycle for the coccidiosis. :ausb:

Disaster In The Baby Aviary
UPDATE REPORT: Birds are looking good at this stage, there are about 4 that look iffy, but it is hard to tell because they are going through their 1st molt and it is hard on them, I don't remember the babies looking this bad last year. Any way I should know what's going on by the end of the week end. They are still under the vets care and on Meds. :ausb: Thank you everyone for caring it has been a great help while going through this.

Another Sick Bird
Kathy we are boiling the water but only for the last couple of weeks. That what Greg thought because last year all my birds got boiled water, then I got lazy and they gat tap water, but they have been doing good on the tap wayer till now, But it good be part of the problem. Thanks. :ausb: The oldest bird 001 has come good must have had a husk or something caught in his throat, that's what Greg thinks anyway, but he is perky as ever and hasn't coughed since that day. All other birds look okay, but there is still 4 that I'm not sure about, but it iis hard to tell because they are going through thier 1st molt and it looks like it's taking its toll. I should know by the week end what's going on, hopefully. they are still on meds.
