Temp In And Around My Aviary
I am having problems with my aviary too as the trees have been cut out it sits out in the open and the poor birds are suffering so after the real hot day I went and purchased cement sheeting or clad to cover the roof and you wouldn't believe the difference its huge, I was going to insulate it to but the rain can probably get to it so I haven't bothered as yet. BUT REALLY WHAY RAIN

25+ Budgies Advertised In Local Paper.
GREAT JOB TRISH The bird I told you about that had it worse is amazing now. He had his beak top and bottom growing out side ways so deformed and long it was disgusting, the owners kept trimming his beak but they didn't know what was wrong so that's all they kept on doing until a couple of months ago they ran into me which they call me the bird lady, funny. Any they explained it to me and I said it was probably scaly face so I gave them some ivermectin and explained what to do. Well each week I would run into them and they would say he was looking much better and last week the women called me and told me I was a miracle worker (real funny) that the birds legs and face had cleared up and he was much happier chirping away etc, Anyway her husband was trimming the birds beak when it fell off top and bottom she said he was horrified but once it fell off what was left was normal beak, so it must of been the scaly growth that fell off any the bird is completely recovered and now that they no that birds can have these aliments they are more wary. BUT YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD OF TAKEN THE BIRD TO THE VET AS HE MUST OF BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A VERY LONG TIME

New Aviary Advice Needed
My aviaries have a very coarse sand and Greg put cement around the outside of the whole aviary so it would be near impossible for a dog or fox not that we have foxes digging under but mice could if they were smart enough. I have chosen to cement mine but Greg is against.

Huge Abcess Next To Feces Hole/outlet!

New Aviary Advice Needed
No you don't need cement floors, my aviaries have been sand up for over 3 years and I have not had 1 mouse in there yet and I am just cementing mine now and that is because I am hoping it is easier to clean, sweep, vacuum and hose as to a sand floor you can't really wet as you can't get all the seed off the floor.

Ivermectin?
They do get scaly mite on their legs that's the first place you notice it, It is when untreated it shows on the beak etc. oil will work but if you can get some Ivermectin it will cure it for sure plus it worms your birds too. I have used it for years and have never had any problem

Cement Floors
Oops 2 bags just did the 3rd bag and I am worn out, have to level it yet. My finger is still sore and a huge scab on top and I still have band aids on to stop me from knocking the top off but overall much better. The worse thing is I am not allowed to get it wet. That's hard. BUT as for my cheats way of cemeting the last one I did worked perfectly happy as larry, it is as hard as rock and dried just like my proper cement floor. So I am guessing this will work even better as I am using more cement and am going to try and level it better than the last one.

Cement Floors
Trying my luck on one of my aviaries today the biggest, post picture tomorrow of before and after, But gee so far a big job, cleaned aviary out then have been racking sand in have already mixed 22 bags of cement in but only half way there. Have blisters on my hand from the rake And it is getting too hot to finish it, the worst part will be levelling it. More tomorrow

I Love The View From My Lounge Room
Lovely thanks MB that put a smile on my face nice to see them, I got a roasting at my club meeting the other night for selling a couple of those birds, felt terrible, But in the end he said can you live with it and I said yes, told Greg and he said at least you get a good start. They are going off at me for culling to early. Don't care I know they have gone to a good home. Any way I will be proud if you breed some good birds and win at the shows because I can sit back and say I that came from my line I think the breeder that Greg got my wow bird from has regretted selling that bird and the violet hen. Good luck with your birds MB, keep the pics coming I like to see how they are going.

Show Cages
You have to be a member of a club to show your birds and they have to be birds that you have bred, thereis exceptions but I am not sure how it works but I know if you are able to show a bird that was bred by someone else it has to go in open but not many clubs allow you to do this. If you are a member you can get show cages through your club kits are $23.50 plus .89c for drinkers and complete cages with drinkers are $36.00 already to go. Like here I have 16 cages ready to go wrapped up and put away just for showing, 5 kits I have to make up agghh and 14 show cages I use for training. The training cages are in use all the time. So if you intend on showing you really need to invest in some cages. Good luck at the show
