Wing Clipping
I'm going to clip Goofy's wing because even though he's okay with human contact, he's still very flighty, so getting the training/taming requires is a lot harder when he keeps taking off. I'm also only planning on clipping it this once. I'm sure once he's tamed down and his wings grow back, I'll leave it grown in. Other reason why people might clip is like Daz says, it reduces their flight ability in the house so therefore less chances of causing themselves injuries if they fly too hard and bang into glass. I've heard of stories of a parrot breaking it's neck like that. :hap: Another being, if you let your bird out and about in the house often, this lessen the accident of the bird flying out the door if it had a reduced flight ability. There are 'extremists' of both side of the story of clipping wings. I think I'm in the middle somewhere where I dont mind clipping their wings, but I love to see them fly at the same time. So I compromise with one clip to tame them down!! :ausb: Oh that's because you knew that they were going to good homes!!!

Flying Goofy!
Thank you everyone. :ausb: Goofy makes a good photography subject!!! No really, seriously, everyone can get shots like that!! seriously, it isn't that complicated.. Though i guess there's a trick to it that you gotta remember (I forget to do that sometimes and I get nothing but the wall!! (Laughing out loud)...) Most digital camera will have an auto focus on it, and generally they take 'a long time' to focus before it actually takes the photo, so by the time the photo is taken the budgie would have flown by already and alot of people just think that they are not quick enough when it's the camera that needs to work faster, not you.. .... The trick is, pre-focus your camera first and hold it there. Aim the camera to whereever you think the budgie will fly, when you know that your budgie is going to fly by, just click away, the photo will take straight way, no focusing as it has already been done... give it a few try...Some will turn out blurry some will be crisp... it all depends on where the budgie fly pass.. hence as you can see most of the flight I have is kinda blurry but not.. seriously... I know everyone here can do it.. provided that you have a digital camera, but normal camera can do it too, you're just gonna be wasting lots of money and films that's all!! (Laughing out loud)... Good luck everyone.. I'll be expecting some flight shots from everyone soon!!! :hap:

Moulting Madness
A couple of aviary budgies molt very heavily. they look like echidna when they molt, no seriously! all those pins sticking up everywhere!! and yeah, for a few days they generally don't fly too well, so they kinda just climb all over the aviary with the occasional flutter to a higher perch or something.

Flying Goofy!
That's sounds great!! You don't need the setting really, it just helps. Just make sure you have the flash ready. Good luck. and Oh, thank you.

That Kind Of Person
Oh that is indeed very sad how anyone can do that to their birdie!! Celeste, I know you're ticked that you're just expect to take it in and take care of it without you knowing it to start off with. But I'm sure that you'll take GREAT care of the little Buddy. I just hope that this little guy won't be going back to it's original owner?!?! You do deserve your 'Budgie Angle wings'.. :hap: 10' x10'... hmmm I won't tell that Goofy is currently sitting in a 10' x 13' quarantine cage then.. hehe... Oh he's only in it for Quarantine as all my other cages are occupy at the moment. Once he's done, he'll be in a 22'x22'x38' with either just Lemon, or Lemon and Hope. So three budgie max in that cage.

Eye Rings?
I had to have a double check on her.. :hap: I think there's something there, I mean like a darker spot in the middle, like the pupil or soemthing, then the bit outside it, but it is an Iris ring really. I checked my recessive pied in the aviary, their eyes look like it's the same as that eye. if that made sense.

Flying Goofy!
That's one of my favourite flying pics as well. I love it. I got another one that I took from the top and it's not quite the same. Goofy is a very docile little guy. It's in his personality I think. I ahven't done anything to make him lie on my hand really, he just did it the first time I laid him there, and I've been doing it ever since.. us to make sure that he doesn't forget about it.. hehe.. He hangs like a bat too!!! Thanks, I had to wait awhile for him to start preening himself.. and when he did, I just happen to snap a shot of him giving himself a good scratch!!!! I love the pics too. Thank you. goofy is a treasure. I hope Ken likes this lot of flights. You know Flight shots aren't that hard to do. It's even easier if you're trying to make your little ones fly for exercise... Just make sure you've got good lights, if not, Flash always is good. Set your camera setting to 'action shots' usually mark with a guy running kinda thing. what I did was basically had Goofy in my hand, point in the direction that he'll fly, get the camera to focus and hold it there without actually taking the shot and wait and then kinda send him on his way. When I see him fly by, I take a shot or two if I'm quick enough. Or otherwise I just click when ever I send him on his way... sometimes I get nothing, but sometimes I get the tail or just the head or half the body... but then sometimes I get the full shot!! It's great when I catch a good one. I do this for the number of time I send Goofy flying. He wouldn't fly otherwise, he rather spend his time at the bottom of his cage even if the door is open!! (Laughing out loud)... In the case of your aviary, have the camera ready focus already in the one area, and may be get Ken or someone else, or even yourself to send some budgies flying, oh I don't know... ummm 'scare' them a bit... hehe, not literally, but you know what it is that will send them flying. I'm sure you'll get some nice piccies out of that. May be I'll come over with my camera one day to your place and show you how I do it then. Easier that way.. hehe.

Flying Goofy!
I decided to take some more pics of Goofy, so I share some that I've taken.... I'm just wondering how many pics is too many in one post? I hope I haven't gone over the limit with this one... cheers Goofy Flying... I'm giving him a lot of flight time to strengthen his muscles and also to learn to fly before I clip him for training.... here's another one of Goofy lying on his back in my palm again.. It wasn't luck that he did it the first time!!! This is him enjoying a bit of a scratch under his beak while lying on his back.... And Just a shot of him giving himself a good scratch!! okay, hope you enjoyed the pics. Sorry about the number flight pics. I just love seeing birds fly.

Eye Rings?

Fat Budgie
This picture was taken earlier. Yue Liang is my biggest budgie coming in at 52g. :bluebudgie: She's just a big pet budgie. She's small in comparison to some Show birds i've seen. Oh please excuse the scruffiness. They are all molting heavily at the moment. and she just had corn. Although her face colour is molting in darker yellow.. almost golden compare to the rest of her body!

Introducing The Newly Named Goofy!
You know Budgiebird, if you didn't breed such nice bird and play and handle them from the young age, I wouldn't be able to do what I do with Goofy!!! So I thank you!! Cheeky, this boy is very docile in his personality. I first tried it when I got him home when I was just playing with him. I had him in my palm thinking that he'll just roll over, but, nope that wasn't the case, he just stayed there!!! He's only recently started to crawl and squeeze in between my fingers. I hope that that's a sign that he's coming to trust me on his own term.

We Have Found Our Cage!
Yep, definitely a nice cage.

Introducing The Newly Named Goofy!
he is a sweetheart. :fear I love this little guy. He's still got his wings which kinda makes it harder for me to tame him down even more, not that he's not tame as it is. I'll be letting him keep that wings for another week or so, then I'm going progressive trim his wings so that he's not going to loose his flight straight away. I think it's in his personality to be so trusting of people. he's really relax when he's out of his cage.

Is This A Good Idea?
can you imagine the sticky and greasy little feet you'll have if you did that?!?! most of my budgies love to crawl around the bottom on the grate, so I dont' think I'll be playing with them anytime soon if I spray that on.. but that's just me... safe or not safe...
