  1. So cute.
  2. Man, sometimes I wish my hubby's was a bit more firm on stopping me from wanting more birds!! If we go into a bird place, and I see something that I love, and I say 'oh I want that little guy'.... hubby will guarantee to say back...'go ahead.. we'll make room for it at home'!! geeze.... If I didn't have self control, I'm sure my house would FULL of birds!!! (Laughing out loud)
  3. hahaha, look at that adorable face... all wet!!! I love a good wet budgie picture!!!
  4. so her eyes are red? It's weird how the camera can make the eye looks soooo black!! I have to try that with my albino.. :ausb:
  5. He's going great. Although he didn't get as much out time over the last weekend... as I've been a bit busy and haven't been home much. He's gone a little 'wilder' but still tame if that make anysense. I'll take some more pics when hubby returns with the camera later.. he still sticks his bottom right up in the air... :ausb: still a goofball in general..
  6. hehe, they are sooo cute!!! :ausb: glad to see that they are getting along sooo well!!
  7. Yep, agree with Lin. I have a digital kitchen scales which has a 3kg limit, and an increment of 1g. Perfect for the tiny little budgies... and I use that as well to weigh my cockatoo to make sure he's on the right track as well with his weight. I got mine from Kmart. They range from $25 up to the really expensive ones.. :ausb: Mine cost about $35.

I think with Pine it's the sappy bits that's not okay for the bird, but as far as I know Pine is okay. a lot of wooden ladder are made out of pine dowel. Kool aid should be fine then if it's not sugary.. I didn't know if it came with it or not because we don't get them here!! You know, I'm not too sure with wool... sorry... I'm thinking can the bird can tangled in it?? I guess they are easily breakable??

If you have pine, that's okay. Kool Aid is fine for colouring except wouldn't it get sticky?? I have discussed this with someone on another bird forum I visit, and I think they said that it gets sticky.. I'm not sure what the sugar content is like with those so may be check out those content? With sheep skin? you mean with wool on them? or just the leather? It's fine if you're very sure that it hasn't been treated with chemicals. When I make my own bird toys, I generally use polar fleece type material where it doesnt give out loose bits of cottons. I still check it often to make sure there's nothing that can strangle my birds.

All mine adore the bottlebrush branches and leaves!! they hate the flowers though for some reason.. hehe.. I give the branches a good wash before putting them in... Just as well the my hubby makes all the wooden ladder for the budgies otherwise I would have spent hundreds of dollars replacing wooden ladders!! They go through them like there's no tomorrow!! (Laughing out loud)
  13. wow, Terri, no offence, you either have really really small sized budgies (and tiel..my mum tiels come in at roughly 100...) or they are all underweight!! I have 19 budgies... of which Goofy and Hope (the one that I found hanging around my aviary outside) is the smallest in size. You can tell that they are a lot smaller as they are tiny to look at!! They both came in at 37g. Does that mean that all my birds are overweight?!?! I think not. the biggest bird I have comes in at 52g. and no she's not 'fat' she's just a big bird.. and no she isn't a show bird either. We just breed them big here in Australia. They are all Pet budgie. Mr Attitude (my grey spangle opaline...I've had pics of him in mutations regarding his mutations...) he came in freshly weighed at 49g. he isn't fat, in fact I'm worried that he's on the skinny side as I can feel his keel bone petruding alot more than my other budgies. I don't even want to know how heavy those show birds come in at... the ones i've seen are way way way bigger than my biggest, which is my creamino weighs in at 52. the heaviest of my aviary bird is 50g, and the lightest comes in at 39g. If I was to go by your average, that would mean, absolutely ALL of my birds are overweight!!! I really don't think so. Yes given that I know that ONE of my budgie out of 19 are overweight - Lemon. You can just tell how fat she is by looking at her.. she is about the same size as her brother Lime, Lime weighed in at 43, Lemon weighed in at 48.. which is not much different to Lime, so not that much overweight, but I realised that I need to get her weight down. She is the laziest of all my budgie which is why the weight gain not because I give them fatty food! Like I said no offence there Terri, but I think the weight average may be a little different here than over at your place. Oh I just measured one of my budgie head to tail length, he came in at around 220mm.... top of head to tip of tail... pretty big pet budgie there....
  14. Look at those chicks!! I'm glad to hear two others have hatched and with good fosters parents. Yes pics please!!!!
  15. Awww just look at them all huddle together!! They are sooo cute. I do love their colours!!!
  16. he is a jolly happy little one. I have yet to find him in a normal perching position during the day. Generally I find him sitting over the topof the waterbowl dish with one leg dipped in the water!! or his head stuck all the way to the bottom of his seedbowl and bottom right up in the air!!! (Laughing out loud)
  17. It's soooo cute when they tilt their head!! I love seeing that 'inquisitive' look about them!!
  18. (Laughing out loud)... Oh Lovey, I'm sure your Pretty just love playing Chasey with his mommy!!! Except you'll always be the 'chaser', and he the 'chasee'!!!
  19. Awww, he's cutie pie!! I bet he loves looking outside.
  20. (Laughing out loud)... what a dork that little Pretty is!! I'm sure though he's just making sure his mommy isn't going anywhere without him!

If I could I would get Harrison's pellets. they are a bit on the pricey side, but they are currently the best pellets out for parrots and parakeets. I've heard good things about beak appetit as well. Good luck with finding the right stuff for your birdies.
  22. Goofy is a real goofy alright!! He absolutely loves the water bowl, and he loves to sit on top of it covering the whole rim of the thing when it's full of water, the end result? One budgie with a very wet tummy!! and we're talking 9pm at night too!! So I need to dry him up to make sure he doesn't get cold overnight!! Silliest Goofball that Goofy is!!! Ready for more pics of him?? 'Yes I'm cuuuuute... I'm cuuuuute... you know it......' 'That's Mr Cuteness to you thank you very much!' 'No, that's not me being a Goofball, that's a new trend I'm trying to start with the budgie population... a wetpatch on the tummy!!' 'Oi, Mr Cuteness is trying to eat here! Mind giving me some privacy here??' 'Something is wrong with this picture here. You're holding me wrong way up Mommy.........' 'Preening keeps your feathers nice and neat!!' 'Yiipeeeeeeeeee... I can fly!!!!' 'Mr Cuteness needs to go to bed now.... Night Night......'
