  2. Sounds like she left it too late to go to the hospital as she had to have this one with no epidural as there wasnt time and a nine pound baby is big for a tiny thing like my eldest daughter who is a size 8. ouch
  3. Baby grand daughter Mischa Claire born at 11:01pm 24th February weighing almost 9 lbs.
  4. Ken will have to watch the birds tomorrow. My daughter has just left for the hospital to deliver her second child, my grand daughter number two. I will be there in the morning
  5. It is extremely common for a DF dom pied to have two colours on its cere. You have a male
  6. I changed the end of the flights. Have put natural branches in instead of the dowel perching arrangement. More for foot exercise than anything. Today was very hot. Each flght had a water filled air cooler going all day. The birds were comfortable enough to be chattering all day and not silent like they are when overheated. Bought one air cooler from the recycle section of the rubbish tip for $10 and ken found the other one thrown out on bulk refuse throwout earlier today.
  7. I am glad she is still going
  8. Sounds like you have it all in hand. Great job
  9. Looks really good Does rain get in at all, because coccidiosis would be a concern. Or do you have a plan for winter that involves closing things down a bit ?
  10. I don't think she is cinnamon, she's doesn't have the brown quill, her wings are almost void of any spangle markings. If this hen has laid eggs only last winter would she still be to old to breed? One of the hens are randomly laying eggs on the aviary floor and i think it is her. It would be a shame if i couldn't use her, she is such a nice hen. I suppose thems the breaks. Lib Generally you retire them at 4 years due to higher incidence of eggbinding or prolapse. if you are going to chance it you would have to weight up the possible vet costs or possible death of the bird.

  12. Why two weeks ? If you read the caring for baby budgies in the nestbox article FAQ or BREEDING TIPS area you need to be handling them sooner to look out for any issues.
  13. I try to avoid seed bells as most are put together with glues even the ones marked honey sticks
  14. Nice birds The spangle hen is grey green and is she cinnamon as well ?
  15. Depends on what your weather is like over there and also how many clutches they have had in a row ?

NOT a good idea. Imagine the stress the poor thing would suffer with a group of 6 year old chasing it around. Agreed...not a well thought out suggestion at all
  17. I think that one would be safe
  18. Be careful about bar heaters........a lot of them have teflon which is toxic.

  20. Supply and demand..........unless a million gazillion people are begging for it, noone will bother creating it to make their own personal fortune. So far I havent heard the cries of the gazillion people after it, so I guess its a no go for now
  21. I think this is the main thing, but also to do with the rspca people etc who see our birds in cages with no seed and water all day at shows. I think a budgerigar breeder mix with no oats or sunflower ..........I could be wrong
