  2. all fingers crossed here :budgiedance: :bliss:
  3. MOTION The perch size in the show cage be increased to 16mm in width. Reason: With the bigger birds the wider perch size is desirable so the birds stand steadier on the perch and grips it firmly. Breeders use thicker perches in their breeding and holding cages therefore it is reasonable to use the thicker perches in the show cages as the birds are used to them.
  4. sounds okay doesnt it ? :budgiedance:
  5. Great positive steps :budgiedance:
  6. Ditto ...no picture. Read in my signature on how to post pictures.
  7. The Dcups and the thicker perches will soon be Australia wide. We have begun implementing them. Some people have and some havent so far. Since half my cages were set up that way and half werent and similar for most people then it would be real difficult for anyone to figure out whose cages had it setup that way and whose werent. Since we had some entrants from the Rare Budgie club and some of them are usuing the OLD style show cages with the rounded over fronts at the top, they too could have been seen as marked, couldnt they ? As could any cage with a chop of paint off it, a piece of tape over the catch a spot in the cage...anything really. The cages were set up before anyone left home with their birds.

Some of us provide "toys" not always the pet budgie cage type toys but other similar things to amuse the birds. I notice some show breeders over here werent using toys so I have made swings and such and given to them. I did notice they were in use when I visited too
  14. More a case of when they are either relaxed or trying to impress a girl budgie
  15. Hannah thanks for letting us know about all this in detial. Its very helpful to members to hear about these things. Real sorry to hear how sick he was and is. Also best hopes for full recovery. I am so glad he was so valuable to you and your family to see him get the right treatments necessary to be a healthy "family member". Keep us updated Nibbles is now a gold plated budgie
  16. The rule of the day was.................if you were using the new d cups for seed, you had paper on the floor of the cage. If you were doing seed on the floor of the cage and no d cups then no paper necessary
  17. I didnt like them at all when I first saw them, even though I have crested canaries at home. However they are so cute and funny and comical looking ( mostly all small ) that they tug at the strings of your heart. I may get some going in the future myself.
  18. I put my birds in show cages and take them for a drive in the car. They WILL perch and stay there after going around a few corners. I also use ping pong balls in the bottom of training cages.
  19. Two of mine ended up on the top bench too
  20. I decided yesterday at the show to begin a topic here where we can post pictures of show budgies behaving badly in their show cages. You all may have seen them...the ones that hump their drinkers, hide under paper, hang upside down from the bars and snooze in the corner etc. I took some pictures yesterday like this and so did littlebudgie. Anyone else have any post them here too
  21. Growing well arent they ?
