Just to add...I would have freaked out about a snake like that too.........no wonder you are having nightmares. I hope the snake is gone.

You know this makes me very very sad for you :star: What a wonderful dog and she was protecting her family. Its a great pity the snake won in this case. Jack Russels are famous for going after snakes. My blind aunty had a Jack Russel as her assistant dog. Same thing happened to it....the dog was keeping the snake from getting to my aunty who was also in a wheelchair at the time. I am really sorry mate
  5. You would have to know at which stage the other eggs and nests are at to distrubute them well. If you were to candle the eggs you would also know which are actually fertile all around and that would help you make these choices. Candling can be done without touching the eggs. Use a strong torch in the nestboxes, behind the egg pointing back towards where you are so you can see the results
  6. I agree with GB. A lot of people do the brown cere as being in condition. Depending on the shade of brown it may not be. The darkest brown is going out of condition and just before it peels away. Light to medium brown is right. Timing may be all wrong.
  7. Just in case anyone reads this the wrong way...................putting her down doesnt mean euthenasia, it means breeding with her :star:
  8. Thanks heaps Dave for the Terrific to see your babies and the monster chick too :star:
  9. I completely diagree! All *** can break loose once those eggs hatch (if they do) I agree with Maesie I am afraid. I think the problems will come with hatching. Is there any budgies with eggs in their owns nests so you can transfer the eggs out.......or any tiels you can transfer the tiel eggs out to ?
  10. How cute Congratulations.
  11. :grouphug:  that made me laugh
  12. Mine would have a panic attack if I did that Kaz, I presume it would be a similar noise to air sac mites? If they are on iodine, logic would say treat for air sac? Would 7 drops a litre be o.k. each water change? Does it stay stable for a couple of days do you know? Iodine I mean. I do each water change too :grouphug:
  13. Cool !!! All going well then
  14. Iwas told to walk around at night in the aviary or birdroom while the birds are perched for the night and if you hear those sounds they need iodine.
  15. Advice I have had is 7 drops aqueous iodine per litre if that helps.

Maybe but the cere looked wrinkly and peeling too. Another photo needed then and if a cock with issues was why it was sold off most likely.

Next time you go to buy birds....take a cage a bit like a show cage....get them to put the bird in it so you can have a close look. Always ask to feel the bird in your hand before finally deciding as some birds have sharp keelbones indicating illness and if you feel it you can assess its bodyweight and state of health. Its a nice bird.....keep it

pick up the cock that is a hen and take a close look at the cere. If its as reddish and wrinKly as i see it here and peeling off, try to pick away the flaking skin on the cere....It will come off. Cocks dont get red wrinkly ceres that peel off.

Which two hens ? Besides look in any aviary and see boys preen boys and girls preen girls....its a habit, a behaviour, not necessarily a mating thing.
