Welcome to BBC glad you are finding it the best we think so too Merlin I believe is a 1/2 show or "English" Budgie too, I don't think he is full show but as your budgie grows you will be able too see more and decide. He is a doll, take some cute pictures and take on of those pictures and enter it in Budgie of the Month Contest (this is held monthly), if you like. I think you asked his mutation I would say he is a Golden Face his face is very deep yellow per the picture and the green is coming in very olive like which he may be a mauve instead of a cobalt. More pictures in the Mutation Section would help too . Again welcome.

budgies are odd lol they do what they want most of the time, chop of the veggies and sprinkle seed on them and remove the seed see if that helps them eat their veggies quicker so they are not wilted, keeping veggies out too long and cause bacteria to grow and can cause illness. Also another trick I read is to put new foods where they roost (meaning sleep) therefore when they first wake up they are more apt to nibble because they are still sleepy and don't want to move much (I read this in a bird mag).

I agree Krosp, good advice. What type of food does your budgie eat? If you do a google you will find lack of Vitamin A is the biggest culprit for respiratory infections because it is responsible for keeping the lining of the respiratory tract healthy. If he is a seed only bird your bird is most likely nutrition deficient...you can read many articles and studies about this in bird magazines, articles etc... When they molt this is a very stressful time and this is when the immune system is down, and they are not feeling well and they are cranky this is when a lot of different changes can happen quickly and we don't notice. Keep him warm this will help pull him out of it and what I mean by warm 80F warm.
