  1. Oh I am sorry, it has been a rough day. BIG HUGS from me to you.n
  2. #1 looks female #2 I can't say #3 looks male
  3. it is very upsetting...and you do what you feel is best word of advice though they are smart cookies and because you are giving him quite a bit of attention when he feels better he may expect the same (maybe I am wrong) but they are very much like kids. Keep us updated.
  4. When i make mine i get a hard boiled egg, bread crumbs, bird seed, and my birds favourite veggies. You microwaves the egg shell for about 2 mins and smash that into a fine powder. You add that to mashed hard boiled egg. Sprinkle some bread crumbs over the top just enough to spread right through the mix. Add a tablespoon or two of the budgies seed mix and then mix some finely chopped veggies in as well and stir it all together. taken from Bea
  5. Well I was giving others a chance (Laughing out loud) You know me I am not into all the % stuff All the babies will be green unless the hen is split to blue Violet is an added factor so if she is a SF violet 50% chance the babies blue or green will carry the violet factor, if she is a DF violet then all the babies will carry the violet factor. 50% dominant pieds 50% normals 50% spangle 50% normals note, I am not doing the combo of spangle opaline dominant pied (Laughing out loud), but know any of these can be a combo in 1 bird. Remember though if it is an opaline it will be a female . There are many combo spangle dominant pied etc... hens will be opalines males will be normals (of course we always have a recessive genes that both birds carry that can come out as a surprise and if the male is carrying any sex-linked genes like cinnamon (we know he is an visual opaline )
  6. looking at the first picture that was the first thing that came to mind is that she does look thin and too me that is a concern. I don't breed so I can't say if this is common among hens or not but I would think that it could lower her immune system. So I would make sure she is getting everything plus a breeding hen needs to stay healthy plus a break after this clutch. You should have an electronic gram scale if not it would be a good investment especially since you are breeding. An ounce or 2 lost or gained on a budgie can help you indicate if there is a health concern. Example..if you weighed her and she weighed x grams and then in 3 days say lost 3 grams to me that is a concern. Budgies weigh little and a little bit of loss of weigh is critical. This was the avian vet advice I received after Pretty passed away so suddenly.
  7. sounds like he is having separation anxiety when you leave the room with you coming back each time he sqawks you are rewarding him for his behavior as loud as it gets you need to ignore it or you can cover him for like 5 mins for him to settle down Interesting about the leaves in a bag, I do feed that to my birds too. Glad the vet was able to help out Luke.
  8. great to hear We would love to see pics of your flock when you have a chance

    interesting
  10. I can't wait to see the results I am surprised more member didn't give it a shot on the genetics
  11. Good to hear about Pastel Fabio and Lacey are looking fine Sophie is such a beautiful hen.
  12. birds can not catch colds from us. Maybe you just noticed it more because you are sneezing? We can catch disease from them though.
  13. they are both lovely
  14. sounds like 2 females and 1 male but again that is just a guess from what you are seeing. Pics would be better with no flash of the cere
  15. Personally I would call the avian vet now. Let's see what the others say who have more experience with this type of thing.
  16. she would get both the opaline and cinnamon gene from her dad
  17. Maloney I thought she said no iris ring? As for the pics I can't see one or not because of the way the bird is positioned. The way she is explaining it the bird is a DEC. If there is no iris ring and the eyes are dark they are considered DEC if there is an iris ring I would say a Double Factor Spangle. You can tell a budgie is double-factor spangle because its irises lighten normally with age. Comparatively, lutinos/albinos have red eyes and dark-eyed clears have dark plum eyes throughout their lives.
  18. I agree they are very pretty budgies and I like the names too.
  19. You didn't mention if you quarantined your new birds from your old. I won't assume yes or no but just add if you didn't you must do that now. Keep the new birds separate from the existing birds for 30 days at least to ensure no sickness will be passed on. The runny poo's can be a sign of stress from the move more then a diet change. I would observe your bird and if you see any other signs of sickness such as being fluffied up for a long period of time, not moving, difficult breathing that a warrent to the avian vet is a must. Plus separating the bird from all the rest and keeping him warm.

beak clicking in birds is a sign of contentment as with purring in cats if you find that you clear respiratory clicking then a vet trip would be warrented. Are there are other signs of distress?
  21. The other 2 are The dominant pied with the pied spot on the back of the head - like my Merlin. Double Factor Dominant pied that looks like a recessive pied but has 2 dominant pied genes. Sailor I was thinking something on the terms of that too because it seems that the yellow is bleeding into the neck? So a full picture of the bird would help and if you had a picture of her when she was a baby . But then again that could be my screen.
  22. Elly replied to Bea's topic in Budgie Pictures
he already has, keeping him in Tim's room doesn't make it final yet Great pics...Blinks Blink....is so consumed with himself but I can see why he is simply divine . Oz is looking handsome as ever.
  23. Tapping foot nothing against Tim...he knows you will do it Bea (your a wonderful sis), by the way I hope he is feeling better.
  24. wow good to hear maybe the release of pressure is what was needed.

splat that is horrible that a pet shop would even consider doing such a thing. They certainly need to be reported or something because in all reality they are selling unhealthy birds. This post can ignite a lot of emotions and I see both sides of the fence here. The best thing you can remember is that if the quality isn't there you have to send them to rainbow bridge. And not to breed them purposely if you know they produce feather dusters you as a breeder need to make a responsible decision on to breed this bird or not.
