  11. We have 3 cats and in the beginning your cat will be very interested in your new bird no doubt. The best thing you can do is get a sturdy cage that is on legs with wheels (aviary type if possible). The small starter cages are not that safe with cats because you have to put them on a table and you don't want any type of ledge where that cat can sit next to the cage or knock it over. You can suspend the cage but it must be eye level with you so the budgie doesn't have the upper-hand in the relationhip When we have free flight time the cats are locked up or I lock up my office where Merlin stays and let him out with me. You can keep your budgie in your bedroom but it really is not advised because of the feathers and dander build-up but many do. If you feel that you can't possibly keep them apart and it won't work then maybe a budgie right now would not be a good time. I can tell you though many people do co-habit with both and it works fine with a little bit of awareness and responsibility .
  12. I don't believe we have member who breeds them on BBC, sure would be awesome though
  13. Thank you Robin Adrian is she doing this when you are around your wife? As funny as it may sound she may be doing this because she doesn't want her by you. To you Jimmie you are hers and a lot of time that is more of a dive bomb saying stay away from him.
  14. The white patch sounds like you may have a pied mutation of some sort but a picture of both parents here and also the babies will be needed to make sure . You have the colors of the parents but not the mutations so that will be necessary too.
  15. I would say that there is something internally going on could be another tumor or it could be an infection from the inside that is pinching a nerve that is causing these issues. I trip to the avian vet I would think is necessary to figure out what it is going on. It could be seperate from the lump or it could be related. I can't be for sure.
  16. Pair 3 if the lacewing is a yellow based bird Pair 1 and 2 can only have blue babies (grey birds indicate a white/blue based bird)
  17. all normal greens unless the cock is split to blue this is because blue is a recessive gene and needs to be carried by both birds you will only get recessive pied unless your boy is also carrying the recessive pied gene there are always surprises in the nest depending on what other recessive genes they can be carrying and any sex-linked genes the cock can give to his hens
  18. Yes female, I had a recessive pied boy You can click here to see the discussion about breeding conditions and how to tell if they are ready plus you can read our FAQ in the Breeding Section there is excellent infomation. Click here for Discussion

They can't cross breed so if they do the act (have you ever seen if they have) then nothing would come out of the egg. My concern was maybe the tiel was sick and that is why she is begging for food but I think she is species confused personally. You may want to separate these pair of lovebirds to see if the budgie will go after a budgie instead of a tiel. I would say no big deal but since the hen is laying eggs this could become an issue that could worsen.
