  1. When you upload your pictures use the message board choice which is 480x640 then you won't ever go wrong. Look forward to a new picture.
  2. What were the parents? I agree with Kaz

Keep us updated on her avian vet appointment. You DO need another cage, this means to me that you probably don't quarantine your birds if you don't have extra cages, this is a MUST. We have many topics on quarantine on the boards to read please do so when you have an opportunity. You can purchase a small cage for less then 15.00, where you can use for quarantine for 1 bird and a hospital cage too. I personally would get one today so you can separate them.

First mating a budgie just because it is laying eggs is NOT a solution it only ADDS to the over population of unwanted babies and inexperienced breeders. Just My Honest Opinion People breed for various reasons breeding for this reason is not a good reason. It is best never to encourage breeding just for this reason alone. This is in response to mattdog reply not saying you are going to do that. (no offense mattdog again this is my opinion) Our avian vet said this is very common in budgies and cockatiels and one of the reasons I decided the boy route for a pet budgie. The honest reply is that you may never get her to stop laying once they do it can be a chronic issue but there are ways you can help the hen work through it to ensure if she is going to do this that you can keep her in optimal health during these stages. I do have a friend that went through the injections and the bird did still lay eggs so it may work with some it may not work in all budgies. I would document this and see if she has a pattern like every so many months this starts to happen or maybe this will be a 1x thing. If you do this you may find the triggers. Triggers: longer daylight hours, running water (such as a fish tank or washing machine by her cage), did it rain outside that day, toys that she is getting obessed over, places she can lay, shredding toys in her cage etc.... I am sure there are more. Provide her with: limited daylight hours it will take a couple weeks to throw her off the cycle - meaning keep her covered for 12-14 hrs, and then on a normal basis at least 10-12 hrs, you can tell when they get really flirty with either you or the toys that you should do this even before she starts the laying process, provide her with a lot of cuttlebones, there are Calcium Supplements (you can read about good ones in the breeding section), make sure she is getting a variety of food from seed to fruits to veggies (we have a Food and Nutrition Section in the FAQ's where you can get ideas on how to get her to eat different foods).
  7. Congratulations Kaz, they are all very beautiful and healthy looking chicks.
  8. Texas Clearbody In the Texas clearbody variety, the color of the budgie's body feathers is diffused or absent, and the wing markings are dark at the top and fade to a light grey toward the tips of the wings. The standard for the Texas clearbody budgie is to have no color in the body feathers, leaving only yellow or white (depending, of course, if the budgie is yellow-based or white-based). The Texas clearbody can however, have some color in the body feathers of up to a 50% dilution. In this case the body feather color is stronger toward the vent and rump feathers. Source: http://www.budgieplace.com/c_clearbody.html Here is why, the description is above, we don't have it in our FAQ's
  9. okay that is what I came to conclude, I did change it in the title for you  too and in the post because not everyone knows that this symbol / means split, so when we are talking split it is better to spell out the whole word vs just putting the /, I hope that makes sense.

Will I Live to see 80? Here's something to think about. I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?' 'Oh no,' I replied.. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs? 'I said, 'Not much... my former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said. He looked at me and said,... 'Then, why do you even care how long you live?'

They Walk Among Us in Retail I was at the checkout of a K-Mart. The clerk rang up $46.64 charge.. I gave her a fifty dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to her and told her that she had made a mistake in MY favor. She became indignant and informed me she was educated and knew what she was doing, and returned the money again. I gave her the money back. Same scenario! I departed the store with the $46.64. They Walk Among Us at Starbucks.... I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a Grande Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard that said 'buy one-get one free.' 'They're already buy-one- get-one-free,' she said, 'so I guess they're both free'. She handed me my free Lattes and I walked out the door. They Walk Among Us at the beach.... One day I was walking down the beach with some Friends when one of them shouted, 'Look at that dead bird!' Someone looked up at the sky and said, 'Where?' They Walk Among Us in Real Estate While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, 'Does the sun rise in the North?' When my brother explained that the sun rises in the East, and has for sometime, she shook her head and said, 'Oh I don't keep up with all that stuff.' They Walk Among Us in Tech support I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, 'The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.' He responded, 'Is that Eastern or Pacific time?' Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, 'Uh, Pacific..' They Walk Among Us as relatives.... My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk. They Walk Among Us at the Airport I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. 'Now,' she asked me, has your plane arrived yet?' They Walk Among Us at the Pizza Parlor While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding. 'Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.'

Dear God, Let me give you a list of some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog: 1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up. 2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell. 3. The litter box is not a cookie jar. 4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'. 5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff. 6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet. 7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'. 8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table. 9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after. 10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt. 11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch. 12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing. Sincerely, The Dog P.S. When I get to Heaven, do I get my testicles back? Author Unknown
  13. okay are you confirming they are Opaline GreyGreens split for lacewing or are you saying they are Opaline Grey Green visible lace wings (sorry to be a PAIN but trying to understand what you mean), because I don't see visible Lacewing in them at all. Is that what you mean when you put the / as in that equals split? If so let me know and I will change it in your title to the word split or you can if you like because that is more understandable for the novice, the way it iw worded it makes them look like you mean they are lacewings (to some of us not all :glare:, maybe it is just me )
  14. That is okay but they don't look like Lacewings. In the Green Series a Lacewing Body is yellow and the wing coloring is cinnamon., plus the cere of a lacewing cock stays pink it does not change to blue. That is why I asked if you meant split. They look like Opaline Grey Greens

The first thing you can do is isolate her from your other budgie, put her in a smaller cage, keep her covered on 3 sides, keep her very warm at least 75F in a room, make sure she is eating and if that means only millet then give it to her, and check her poops to see if they are normal. IF they are watery and all white it means she is not eating if they are all black with no white it means she is not drinking. Call your avian vet ASAP.

I agree it is hard to tell because the flash was used if he is a mauve or grey a better picture would be wonderful, closer up and no flash but daylight lighting.
  20. If you got them at the same time they are most likely sisters. From our FAQ http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en When breeding for a specific trait, you need to know that there are 4 factors that could reside that the same place on the chromosome that are responsible for these mutations. Greywing, Clearwing and Dilute factors are all recessive to the normal gene. Meaning if mated with a normal, the resulting babies will be split. The Greywing factor is semi-dominant over the Clearwing factor and is dominant over the Dilute factor. The Clearwing factor is dominant over the Dilute factor. Dilutes cannot be split for Clearwing or Greywing.
  21. No it would not be the same mutation (yes still the same breed a budgie).
