  1. the peeking baby looks just like dad and looks like a boy too
  2. NickNack calm down I told her to take his balls away with the bells in them he kept sitting on them and not leaving them they were like a mirror at this point for comfort and he started to get that look of MY BALLS & over protection. He will be fine , I told her she has to hand feed his veggies hehe...so he remains very tame and gets used to her.

Aly you are right on the money there hehe copy and paste. Hope you are feeling better.
  4. Do you weigh George I would at least 2x a week to watch his weight if he has loss or gain especially with watery stools like that you don't want him to be dropping weight then it may be too late. I agree if you haven't gotten an answer yet from the vet you have been going to I would switch to another qualified avian vet.
  5. That would explain why they are so hefty just love them.
  6. I have the same exact cage I wouldn't have no more then 4 budgies (6-8 to me is pushing it and I think you would find you would have bickering issues). As if you should get another male or female I have read that having 2 males and 1 female can be better because females can bicker over 1 male or you can even it out and have 2 of each sex. Up to you.

They are very pretty and look like they are having fun together . As Feathers says just keep a close eye in the avian vet world they actually recommend 90 days so 30 days is even cutting it short when you talk to an avian vet.
  11. Welcome to the forums, I am very sorry about your loss. You received good ideas on what happened it will probably be unknown and educated guess I am with Chyr on it probably was some type of tumor.
  12. Remember budgies live in flocks of 500 in the wild, preening behavior, feeding others is not "considered sexual" it is considered a social behavior which induces comfort, security etc... My 2 boys loved each other but not in any type of a sexual way. I think we sees this closeness and as humans it may make us feel uncomfortable because we think it is a "gay type of behavior" but it is not it is just like apes preen each other they enjoy being close whether it be 2 females, 2 males or different sexes.
  13. Honestly I use none of that on Merlin and never had I do believe it is a money maker for the simple pet owner like myself. More education on the seller would be nice so you know when it would be essential.
  14. This is normal behavior he is trying to get close to your face as he would another budgie. If you don't like it like I don't then you can use gentle correction. One way to avoid this behavior is to not let him sit on your head the higher he sits the more in control he is in his mind of the situation. That is why they say don't have the cage higher then eye level. So I would not allow him on your head this will start controlling this type of behavior. I had to do with with Merlin because he would try and scale down my head and preen my eyebrows cute for a couple days but not when you are trying to do things and it becomes an obsessive behavior.
  15. Merlin is at MIL, I had her take his plastic balls away because he kept standing on them, I think that made him feel secure, other then that he is okay so far.

Wow Aly excellent photos, I am so jealous (Laughing out loud)...I will get better. I love each individual shot for its unquiness I can't say which one I like best. Thank you for sharing.
  18. not sure if you could record it and put it up her that would be cool if you have that ability
  19. That last picture is so funny, I do hope you chose a picture and add one for the April Budgie of the Month Contest these pictures are too cute not to enter

put some of their favorite treats around it and they will start going by it more and more they are just being wary good for them they don't know it if is harmful or not
  21. very nice
  22. With a lot of stuff you put in their cage they can choke on it, if you put a branch in there they can choke on the bark they strip or a preening toy so I think it really is a matter of choice. I have a rope perch with Merlin and it is wound tight so there is not problems. If you want you could cut off the frayed ends and just leave the circle part. Great pictures they look like they were having a blast.
  23. gorgeous and I am glad he is doing much better

I agree with you completely NickNack that is the way it is here. Fleas are a nightmare and hard to get rid of. I treat my 2 dogs with the monthly topical ointment, my cats are inside so there is no worries. Just paraniod I have been there with fleas before with all my animals, knock on wood we have been flea free for over 10 years and that is wonderful. The most amazing thing is it is not when it is 100F outside in the middle of summer when you get them as much flea season here is September & October :.
