    awe thanks Michelle
  2. The only reason I said that is I haven't seen a heavy marked YF2/GF2 chick most of the time they have more blue and then they molt into the green but yes a pics of the chicks front and even under the wings would be excellent. But then again, if it was open breeding and not closed and they are green chicks and the dad is a blue series that would also explain that little M.S Hen was being a hussy
  3. if they threw 3 green babies there is no way both parents can be a blue series as blue is recessive to green, the cock has to be a green series or else if you are open breeding she was messing around with someone else.
  4. I wouldn't use plastic because it can be slippery on their feet I was thinking more of a cloth type of material therefore making it soft like a rope perch and maybe velco on the sides where they attach so you can take them off for cleaning.
  5. okay so are their color differences between the Double Factor GF Double Factor YF2 Then the single factor of both of them? How can you tell?
  6. They say that GF and YF are 2 different genes in saying this it would make them one and the same? Sorry for so many questions I love learning about this stuff.
  7. so the question I have is that a light yellow face 2 is a double factor then?
  8. The father bred m. spangles so that must have come from the hen that he was paired with. The only chance he is carrying the m. spangle is if his mum the albino is carrying the gene. That is if m. spangle is dominant which I think it is. What were the outcomes of the chick for him on the first clutch with the gray opaline hen? As for the lacewing, I read that when the cinnamon gene is not a strong marker that it can come in after a couple molts making the bird look white and then the markings come in, I read that is a poor trait in lacewings and it is within the genetic pool of the bird.
  9. excellent ideas that is what I used to do with Pretty when he was a lone budgie and I had a small cage I took him in every room by me and had him next to me all the time it really helped with getting him used to me, taming is not always about touching but presence.

can you take a picture of his wings spread open so we can see what they did?

  12. thank you Maise that is what I meant..
  13. Dave they are gorgeous and I agree I would rather them go to a good home with an aviary (nothing wrong with that) then sit in a pet shops and then gosh who knows what happens. Congrats on your success.

sorry to hear this news.. nature has it's reasons though.
  15. Everyone is different so you don't have to take the suggestion but you may get her wings clipped at least just once this really really helps with the process of getting her used to you, also as Liv said if she is that wild she will injure herself flying into walls or you trying to catch her could lead her to endness exhausation so I would put her in a smaller container while you clean and not let her fly until she is used to you or think about at least just 1 wing clip the wings grow back in no time at all.
  16. Wonderful Wonderful!!!
  17. They are both single factor dominant pieds yes... throwback, the genetic pool is so amazing isn't it the more you read I think the more at least I get confused but in the end show or non show what a variety of colors .

rain makes bird act like very "frisky" (Laughing out loud) that is why not only does April Showers bring May flowers as they say but a lot of baby birds. They say not to put your bird next to running water or a fish tank for this various reason it stimulates the brain if there is plenty of water then there is plenty of food etc... Anyways...back on topic Merlin does that ALL the time!
