  1. Also I read that sap is not bad but it can be sticky on their legs. I will have to read my bird mag that I got this month for more information okay.
  2. The biggest thing about x-mas trees is to make sure they are not treated with pesticides and other things that is what is most important. I personally would keep them off that is my opinion unless you chopped it down yourself. This is what I have read in my bird magazine this month. I will check and see if they talk about which ones are safe if they are not treated.
  3. He is probably calling out to the others that is why he is is loud, once quarantine is over or maybe you can move him so he can't hear the flock he will settle down.
  4. Normal Wing Feather Patter Spangle Wing Feather When you look at the bird it looks like someone traced the outside of their wings vs a normal patterned bird has white coloration the spangle has the black/traced marking http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en I hope that makes sense Here are pictures of members' of BBC with Spangled Birds http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9578 Here are pictures of members' of BBC with Normal Pattern Birds http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9580
  5. Glad to have you here
  6. From our FAQ how to figure out what a solid colored budgie (yellow/white) is Difference between an Albino/Lutino VS Dark Eyed Clear VS Double Factor Spangle? What is the difference between a Lutino/Ino and a Dark Eyed Clear (DEC) or a Double Factor Spangle? These three birds can all be the same colour with the same amount of suffusion. The main difference is their eyes and the colour of the adult male's cere. There are other very subtle differences. Lutinos (or albinos) have red eyes with an iris ring and the males cere will stay pink all his life. Dark eyed clears have dark eyes with no iris ring. (As small babies in the nest their eyes are plum coloured). The male's cere will stay pink all it's life Double factor spangle adults have black eyes with an iris ring and the adult male's cere is the normal blue colour. So now that you have that information, what do you think your bird is? I ask because I don't know the age of the bird so don't know if he has or has not developed the iris ring. As with your Spangle, looks like a Cinammon Spangle? The markings are brown yes? that would be why they are lighter if they are grey and my monitor is messing with me then she would be a Greywing Spangle.

  8. I have written this up in the FAQ's on a good way on doing this if you would like to read it. Personally, I would not just put them together but do this gradually because if you do that you don't know what you may wake up to in the morning. When I intro both my birds I had them have out time together only for the first few days, if you don't do out of cage time you can put them in the same cage and then at night keep them apart. A lot of times 1 of the birds usually the older one may try and mate with the younger one and it doesn't matter if it is a 2 of the same sex this is what happened to mine they were 2 boys. Read over the FAQ how to intro a 2nd bird I believe you will get good ideas.

    Welcome
  11. It could also be from my greywing to dilute pairing. - if it is a Spangle that that eliminates these parents NO...the mother is dilute spangle dilute can not be split because it is recessive to greywing but greywing can be split for dilute Greywing (not split) x dilute then you would have all greywings not full body greywings Greywing that is split to dilute x dilute you would have 50% greywing and 50% dilute Again this chick is not a greywing because there should be around a 50% dilutation or a dilute because there should be around aan 80% dilutaton So this pair can't be the parents Because of the body color I lean toward the Full body Greywing because you can see the greywing markings
  12. If it is a grey wing it would have to be a Full Body because a simple greywing the body color and the cheek patches are too bright for that. It looks like a Dark Green Full body Greywing that is my personal opinion. - grey green spangle and a violet clearwing accidental mating. - for these parents both parents would need to carry 1 dark gene. IF this is a Full Body the Spangle would carry the Dilute gene and the Violet has the Clearwing which would create this mutation, I am leaning toward this pair being the parents if my answer is correct Dark Green Full Body Greywing. It could also be from my greywing to dilute pairing. - if it is a Spangle that that eliminates these parents Or from a grey green spangle hen to a green dominant pied....accidental mating - The green dominant pied does it carry 1 dark factor if so it could be these parents and 1 parent would need to carry clearwing and the other greywing to create a Full Body which is possible the the chances I would think that pair 1 has a better shot being the parents.

    Welcome to the forum
  16. In reality though they are all budgies they are not a different breed, example like a pet say cocker spaniel and then one that is bred for show. I know we have an explanation of it in our FAQ but here is a nice article about the difference and why they are called English Budgies in some regions vs Show Budgies http://petplaygroundstories.blogspot.com/2...mal-budgie.html
  17. What a cutie , I would keep him in a more enclosed room until his wings start to grow in more and give him more lift so he doesn't drop to the ground like that he could break his breast bone. He sounds like quite a character.

    Very nice!!!
  21. What a puzzler, she looks like a DEC personally to me and maybe the spots are faults OR she could be a Recessive Pied with another mutation masking it but what I am not sure yet, it is too early for me to think LOL. She is a stunner. I am interested to see what others think.
