I believe it was the temperature change too, I hope he is feeling better today. Keeping him consistently warm right now and making sure he is eating and drinking should help him recover.

keep him warm, make sure he continues to eat and drink, and watch his poos, sometimes it takes a week or so to get back to normal.

I agree with Liv you can also let them be together during the day and then separate at night. There is an article on how to Intro a 2nd Bird in the FAQ's if you would like to review that.

I agree with both Maise and Liv, if he has excess urine it sounds like a kidney problem but we are not avian vets and can't diagnose, you could try to PM birdluv she is in Canada but I know it is a large province but she may have a suggestion.

What I find has stressed Merlin is a chilly day and a bad molt all the same time or a change in food. See if anything was different, the weather, a molt, food change and a warm lamp and making sure they are eating is the best thing you can do for them during this time.
  14. Huge hugs to you and your family Karen.

What were the parents? I am assuming 2 greesns since you are surprised, a blue chick comes from 2 green chicks that are both carrying the blue geen but the green gene is masking the blue. Also hens do tend to be opaline but you can have a male opaline too.

I agree with Kaz there is no dominant pied marking that I see.
  20. It is not necessary fatal sometimes it is just a stressed bird could be a move into a new home, molting, a new cagemate etc...but we can't be sure.
  21. Elly replied to sugarfish's post in a topic in New to BBC

  23. Can she come to the forum and post her questions along with pictures of the wet dropping? We are not avian vets or vets here and we will tell you that is the best thing to do. The only way you will know how much it will cost is to call the avian vet (vet) and talk to them about your situation. No one should ever assume they can't unless they have the facts and ask.

I would say the physical attacks probably stressed him out which probably made him ill.
