It is up to you what you do of course and we are not here to lecture but do be careful it is a big risk, it sometime is the noisy neighbors that snitch and tell the landlord for whatever reason, it makes me sad to see an animal put into a rehoming situation that could have been avoided.
  3. Yes the seed dishes need to be at least in the middle of the cage not under a perch, until a budgie is very comfortable with where they are they will not go to the ground. Do what I suggest but have the seed and water higher as maesie suggested. Keep us updated and watch the poops they tell the story if he is eating or not.
  4. Congrats Marina  - I haven't read all the posts yet so if you did it already sorry if not I look forward to seeing his pictures in Bringing a Budgie home

I have an aviary style cage that is in my home it can house about 6 budgies and if you breed 2 budgies it would be big enough for that too. It is best not to colony breed but do closed breeding, you can also have breeding boxes too as a solution if you have more then a couple of birds. You can check under our FAQ under Cages Example and you will see my cage and other aviary style cages along with those who bought 2 large aviary cages like mine and then members connected them there are many different solutions. You can even build one if you like to your own size and standards and if you do that many members here would assist in you in advice and style.
  8. Many of our members have dealt with mice and rats and you might want to scroll through the Pest Control forum for different solutions. As for your question, I would assume it would not bother them if it is a frequency they can't pick up but I can't be sure. I am sure someone with more experience in this will answer your question. Welcome.
  9. Vixen, it really sounds like she is coming around nicely. Thank you for the update.
  10. Do this, I had a bird on strike just about 4 weeks ago. Take all food out at night because they don't eat at night anyways, when you uncover him only offer seed & veggies for the first 4 hours of him being up after 4 hours crumble up the millet spray on a dish and mix with seed this will keep him from starving but it will initate him to eat, it make take a couple of days but you should get results. Budgies eat the most right when they wake up and right before bed this is when the millet should not be in his cage.
  11. Got it that is why I asked what would be the difference.
  12. Are you sure he is not eating it? He has to be eating something budgies go down hill pretty quick if they are not. Blow the top of the food and see if there are empty husks that fly out. Budgies hull their seed which means they remove the outer covering and if you don't blow them it looks like they have not eaten. Check the poops if they are firm and black/dark brown with white then he is eating. Black is the food and the White is the Urine. Look forward to seeing pictures. P.S. in the FAQ there is a whole section on Food and Nutrition along with an article on how to introduce new foods.
  13. I know Kaz is right and this is why. The dilute, clearwing or greywing genes will wash out the marking on the wings you want strong markings on a spangle to really enjoy the beauty and I assume that is what they want in the show ring. You probably like the dilute because of the softness of the color but it does no good for the spangle gene to shine through. Dilutes when looking will be 80% washed out all over the body and wings Clearwings will have a bright body but the wings will be clear with almost no markings Greywings will have a 50% color loss and have greywings and then there is the Full Body Clearwing that has a bright body with greywings. For Spangles as said look for normal colored birds with strong spangle markings.
  14. That last photo is precious, we need more jellybean photos's in our Budgie of the Month Contests (hint hint)
  15. You will have to get their new owners to join BBC (if they are not already members) and post pics
  16. So that is a solution for you but don't think he will cause the same havoric at MB's house if he is that hormonal? Just asking

Not bad there was only 1 pair so far that didn't work out that is okay. Glad to see everything is going as planned.

Welcome you have received alot of good advice. Sunnie said she was a skyblue dilute clearwing CLOSE she is a Skyblue Dilute. They can't be both they have to be 1 or the other because clearwing and dilute lay on the same gene allele. If you wanted to breed more that look like her you would have to pair her with another dilute OR a bird that proven to be split for dilute. Dilute is a recessive gene. Again welcome.
  19. Good to hear Brittany you were the lucky one.
  20. She is cute and yes remember quarantine.
  21. Kaz... you are a shady one I will be watching YOU :lol2: :bluesbros:
