What Type Is He?
2 Spangles give you Double Factor Spangles give you 50% single spangles those are the ones with marking and 50% double factor spangles the birds that have black iris rings and no markings that you had and they are probably masking the cinnamon gene which is why the eyes went from red to black. He was carrying the cinnamon gene that is why the females were cinnamon. There could have been no normals with this pairing only spangles single and doubles. The drab yellow came from the dark factors that produce the olive coloration not the spangle gene, the reason why her off spring was a bright yellow is probably because he may have had only 1 dark factor because the other bird she was mated to had none (skyblue = 0 dark factors). So if the green would have came through he would have been a dark green not an olive but the green did not because of the double factor spangle. THe male could have been carrying the cinnamon gene and that is why the offspring eyes went from red to black too.

Dilutation Mutation
I have always thought they lay on the same allele but what I have learned today is very interesting. If anyone has any comments, additions or debates lets learn but I have learned that I have been giving wrong advice. This is what I found out... A Greywing can be split for dilute (this I never though was possible from what others have told me) A Clearwing can be split for dilute Greywing & Clearwing are co-dominant Greywing and Clearwing are dominant over dilute So example if you bred a Normal split to greywing and normal split to dilute budgie you would get 75% Normal 25% Greywing NO dilutes Normal can be split for dilute OR greywing OR clearwing A dilute can not be split at all because dilute is recessive to both of the genes above so a dilute budgie is dilute period no split. So for example: If you bred a Greywing split to Dilute x Clearwing split to Dilute this would be the offspring possible % 25% Full-body-color greywing (remember the greywing and the clearwing combined create this combination because greywing and clearwing are co-dominant which means they don't dominante each other) 25% Greywing 25% Clearwing 25% Dilute Pretty cool....

What Type Is He?
Cinnamon is a sex-linked gene Greywing is a recessive gene 2 different genes on different alleles so they can be combined. Sunny Boy looks like a double factor spangle which means he would carry 2 spangle genes 1 from the hen and 1 from the cock, his eyes were red and turned black with iris rings because he is carrying the cinnamon gene I assume but is masked by the double factor spangle gene, both his parents would have had to be cinnamon for him to be a cinnamon because if he was split that means that only his mom was a cinnamon. He is probably an olive which means he is carrying 2 dark factors that is why he is more of the drabby yellow you are saying PLUS you said he produced olives too. I can't see the green hen's marking was she a spangle too? Did the yellow females have red eyes? If so that means that Sunny Boy was split to Lutino and that is why you had 2 yellow birds with red eyes. The single factor spangles came from him since is was a double factor spangle. The cinnamon's they produced were they also females? Getting late here so I hope I typed that up all right, I know what I mean lol :laughter:

Heavenly Pics
He would be an opaline too then. I hope I am on the right thinking process lol Sunnie but that is how I see it when I read up in it here would be the & 2 Full Body Greywings 50% Full-body-color greywing 25% Greywing 25% Clearwing

Heavenly Pics
The parents are full body greywings which means they are a greywing and clearwing combined together that is why the wings are grey and the body is a bright color. Because of this the offspring is a clearwing type 2 yellow face looks like violet, I would like to see the baby feathered up more or the chest color of the baby it see the strength of the coloring. They were not that off when they sold it to you as a clearwing they just didn't realize it was really a full body greying. It is definitely a boy too, wish all boys ceres were that pink :laughter: I saw that the hen is an opaline but was the cock? If not then he is split to opaline, I can't tell if he is an opaline from the front he doesn't look it.

Jellybean's Training
Here is an article that was written up for the site called Taming Your Budgie, please read it will give you information you need to start working with your new budgie http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en. Can you change the water and seed without putting your hands in the cage? I think one thing people don't realize is that birds that have not been handled at a tender age are "wild" they are not domesticated like dogs they do need consistent attention and working with. Most breeders (not all) and all pet shops do not handle their budgies like they do their bigger parrots they let them fly around without human interaction until they are adopted. Your bird is very frightened and seeds your hands as a predator. Think about how tiny he is and how big your hand is. How did they catch him for you? With their hands and then they used their hands to put him in a box for you to take home all a very stressful and frightening experience so all he remembers is the hand is bad. You with patience will have to undo those thought and you can with time and patience, remember your bird is not a dog or cat and doesn't like to be petted so you will have to work with your voice and presence vs your hands. Also you may consider getting his wings clips it helps with taming but clipping wings does not earn trust so do know that if you clip and he sits on your hand because he has no where to go doesn't mean he is trusting you. Anyways...keep us updated let us know how it goes but remember be patient.
