I bet you will be able to get them back into good condition, there is an FAQ article about conditioning your birds you might want to review.
  2. I am glad she is doing well and has not contracted whatever Blue has, she sounds like a doll.
  3. If anyone has anything else to add please do I am going to compile the information here and add a FAQ for Fostering a Chick.
  4. Elly replied to budgiegirl's topic in Pet Shop Chat
We have 2 great articles in the FAQ section about Evaluation of a Pet Shop and a Breeder you may want to read. Personally if I lived by any of the breeders on this site that I knew were excellent there would be no question I would wait and get a baby from them. So I would take Liv up on her offer
  5. how is he doing right now, is he still seem like he aspirated his medicine?
  6. I have just been following this post but I was thinking the same thing you were Libby I thought he was showing the opaline gene too but I was unsure about it. I agree he is a dominant pied, clearwing, yellowface type 2 and possible opaline (it may be hard to see it because of all the mutations mixed together). Question, is that the bird? or is that your bird? How old is the bird? I ask because the cere has not changed to blue?
  7. I agree a better show of the cere meaning closer and clearer, you can see if your camera has a macro setting (indicated with a flower) and that is what you would want to set it on to get a good close up under natural lighting. As for being very young he/she does not look too young to have been sold so keep an eye on him/her check the poos, the bum, if it continues to lay on the floor of the cage I would consider consulting with an avian vet because the budgie could be sick. As with climbing around, hanging upside all good signs of activity and not using the perches yet is not uncommon in the beginning he is probably just trying to get used to his new surrounds.

  20. I love bargians myself personally, great job!
  21. The not able to perch could be a sign of sickness and not too young, I would post a picture here so we can see the baby and follow the advice above. I hope this little one will be okay!
  22. Elly replied to Sunnie's topic in Breeding Journals
Sunnie, you should submit that baby photo for Budgie of the Month that is just so cute .. The parents and the babies are beautiful, keep this post updated I would love to see all the babies fully feathered
  23. She is a cutie, Merlin got his iris rings very early before his first molt and his cere was still pink . I agree with the others and looks like a hen to me too.
  24. Welcome, you have been given good advice I would continue to keep an eye out he may just come back to the noise of his family. As Neat said if you do get another bird AFTER she has raised her babies make sure the do a 30 day quarantine on the incoming bird .
