Great Job! looks amazing and now you have me wanting to go outside and convert the hubbys shed Just a thought though, how do you keep it cool inside on the hotter days? Im imagining a soaker hose might be becoming your best friend soon :ausb:
  7. I just showed the hubby and my girls the picture and the lil one piped up "what breed of bird is that " hahaaaaa
  8. BOTH REASONS they act like a Nappy and stop poops going all over the place and they also have a little lead that you clip on to it somehow so you can use it as a harness.. a bit like a dog leash
  9. Aww how sweet.. The bit i hate is feeding Bert grubs etc.. He cant just take the whole thing in his mouth at once and insists on chomping them in half although now he is in the aviary he is LEARNING to feed himself and likes digging about in the old bird seed and eating the grubs he finds in there *Pheww
  10. nah Bert doesn't get out, he loves it in the aviary... I just went outside and took some photos of him for you to see he really is a cute lil sausage... ^^ He was having a lil snuggle on my lap When I rub on the side of his mouth he opens up waiting for me to shove food in for him (Laughing out loud).. I took this picture to show you why they are called Blue Tongued Lizards Cheers  Una
  11. If there are any small children in the family, hang the pictures in the bathroom as a reminder why they WANT to wash behind their ears and not let you do it
  12. Oh i wouldn't keep Eclectus in the aviary or i think id find myself with legless Budgies I want to get a baby Ekkie and have in an inside aviary with me in the lounge room.. Speaking of which, I found a Breeder far away but not too far away from me that breeds them and i'm half tempted to put my order in for a baby. He can send one to me that is still accepting only one hand feed daily to help with imprinting him... or i could get some Bourke or Kakariki to go into the main aviary with the Budgies.. Decisions Decisions.... Oh also in the aviary my hen (apple, munchy and migs mum) is sitting on 6 eggs.. i really gotta put a stop to her

HAHAAAAA yeah yeah.. now the secrets come out .. Yes i forgot to mention I LOVE THE NAME hmmm maybe i should get you to name my aviary so i can put a plaque above the doorway
  14. OMG how CUTE! the close up picture is one you should have blown up in size and framed
  15. Yeah i think if he wasn't so lazy he might have a go at eating an egg or two I'm not even going to attempt it..

WOOT .. Great job! atleast its not a blister from "cutting" the grass
  17. I had thought of this but im not sure they would go to great with my big lizard running about the bottom also If the big lizard running around the bottom comes across a fledgling fresh out of the nest and also running around the bottom.....what would happen ? :hap: Dont worry, Bert (the lizard) isnt a budgie eater, actually hes is so slack that he mainly only eats if im holding him and literally stuff the food into his mouth (Laughing out loud) with the Quail situation im not sure how well the eggs (and id only have quails if they were to have eggs) would go with Bert slinking his way about squishing them and probably wanting to sleep in the nest himself.. he is a little sausage..

the right words just don't seem to come easy so the best i can do is.. Do what you feel is right in your heart, and you have all of our support in this difficult time.. I'm so sorry for this horrible news and wish things could be turned about.. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Pippin.. :hap:
  19. Yeah i was thinking of getting more birds, if not in the main aviary, i'm keen to make a few more avairys or have an indoor aviary.. Im actually really keen to get some Eclectus Parrots As for cutting the lawn in the aviary.. i'm one of those slaves that will do anything to make my birds happy so umm in order to keep the noise levels in the aviary low, i grab my trusty stool to sit on and my faithful pair of scissors and SNIP away and no i'm not kidding .. I have bought heaps of bags of cement and i'm going to cement the floor under the enclosed shed bit soon. Cheers  Una
  20. Ohhhhhhhh this explains MUCH.. :hap: I was wondering what was going on with the back of Apples head with his lil yellow splodge :fear
  21. :fear I had thought of this but im not sure they would go to great with my big lizard running about the bottom also
  22. :fear I did ask this someplace else but thought id ask here as well.. Is there any other birds that i can mix with budgies in an aviary situation? I'm thinking there isn't really but thought to ask anyways :hap: Cheers  Una

(links because i cant be bothered to resize them) :fear http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/una...ideofaviary.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/una...eofaviary01.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/una...Frontaviary.jpg and this is the new extension we added.. It now takes up a good portion of the back garden but i wouldnt have it any other way Ive bought heaps of trees and bushy things to plant about the place inside and out and also im going to see if i can get a passion fruit vine to grow over the back part of it maybe.. Cheers  Una
