Great Idea Bea! I'm not sure how far away the vets are from you or how efficient they are there so ill give you say ummmmm about an hour and a half after his appointment time to get your butt back here and tell us all how it went

Just make sure your daughter visits often and drinks PLENTY of water (non filtered) I am so envious of you with all your little new baby budgies Cant wait for pictures...

My blue hen (although all her eggs seem to be dud's) seems to have made a nice little collection of feathers in her box, i was looking today and not only does she have her own but at least a few feathers from most of the other budgies as well :bluebudgie: Maybe she likes the softness on her little feet :ausb: ....

:bluebudgie: I just candled my Budgies eggs (the mum that may have squished her last baby) and i found that out of the 4 remainding eggs, 2 were cracked, one looks completely clear and the other is so dark you cant see through it and has a rather large air sack at the end, on the line between the dark and light it has a small dent in the egg shell :ausb: I have removed the two cracked ones but i'm unsure if i should remove the really dark one and also if the really clear one is okay *sigh Cheers :beer: Una

Normally the hen will spend more time in her box and after 4 days her droppings will begin to change. They will become increasingly wet and copious and at about the tenth day the first egg will appear. Eggs are laid on alternate days and may vary from 3 to 10 in number, 6 being the average. :bluebudgie: Under normal circumstances the time between laying and hatching is 18 days.

:bluebudgie: My budgies seem to get agressive with their partners at any given times (Laughing out loud) .. the females do seem to get a little shirty with the males when they are nesting..

:ausb: My birds do this when they are sussing out a box to nest in, she might just be making sure that its suitable but being cautious incase there is a boogie monster or something in there :bluebudgie: They are curious little things and like to make sure everything is in perfect order before they get to the job at hand.. I'm sure the kitty litter would just suck all the moisture right out of the eggs, I know for a fact my lizard cant go near the stuff for obvious reasons but he managed it once and all his feet got cracked and bleeding because all the moisture was literally sucked right outta him
