If so....can they go in my avairy with my other "normal" ones?? I have 2 brothers, (I think :emoticon112: ), they are about 2 and a half months now, and have been housed together in a cage inside since I got them which was in the middle of May sometime. I am concerned because they are much smaller than my other ones....plus I wouldn't want them to breed with the other ones...would they try?? Thanks in advance for those that can help... :hi: Link to comment

Only thing is when you go to breed make sure they are away from your hens for a good two weeks to make sure they are clear of any of the Bush budgies sperm Link to comment

Who told you that? You can breed a pet budgie with a bush budgie, a bush budgie with an exhibition budgie, etc... you may encounter problems but you get problems with any breeding pair. The chicks will be smaller if you breed an exhibition bird to a bush budgie, so no one does it. Link to comment

Or whats the point of having bushies Edited June 21, 2009 by KAZ Link to comment

Bushies are smaller and should not have any other mutations hidden in their genetic makeup. Breeding a bushy with another 'type' will not change the bushy but the chicks will just become 'pet type'. Nothing stopping you breeding a bushy to another bushy down the track Link to comment

Now that I know that they will and can breed together (a bit blonde of me to think they wouldn't/couldn't!!) I think I will do what AV suggested and remove my hens 2/3 weeks prior to breeding, I would like to keep my bushies as bushies, and my normals as normals...... I'm pretty sure I have 2 males..... and they are brothers anyway, I would need to get a hen from somewhere else and I rarely see them, the only other ones I have seen in a pet shop were a pretty bad example of so called bushies, :bliss: but hey, I'm so not an expert and they could well have been... Thanks everyone. Link to comment
