I seee hen too :cake: I held a young 6 day old hen up to a very seasoned breeder today and said - "do you think this is a hen?" - he just looked at me blankly Some people dont even think that sexing them this young is possible. As each chick has hatched, i have written down the sex (on day of hatching) so see how i go... so far so good. :cake: Link to comment

A few show breeders who have been breeding show budgies a lot longer than I have , have actually sold me "cocks" that I knew to be hens, and indeed did turn out to be hens. Link to comment

I have discovered with time that I breed an abundance of hen babies through warmer weather and when I breed through colder weather I get an abundance of cocks. Link to comment

So mine differ from you guys too. but I am really happen with my abundence of hens, it's great some are really good. I think out of the 32 I have bred I think there are maybe 3 or 4 that may be culled, and rest are keepers. Link to comment

Are there any mutations where you can't sex at this age? Also have you come across any chicks that you couldn't sex at this age? What age does the cere go black? Sorry for all the questions.
