I will try to explain what colour he is..okay he is yellow all over except for the shoulder area, rump, under bottom, where there is green, his flight feathers are white. There are only 2 hens that I have bread, breeding at the moment. It is their first time they are the opalines pure blue. they came from blue parents. My white skyblue dominant and her normal mate have given me 12 out of 15 pied babies. And my recessive skyblue and normal mate have given me 4 recessives 3 greywinged normals and a (this is where it gets confusing) greywinged skyblue pied with an iris Which puts him in the dominant class I will try an post a picture of him it's his back so you might see his spot!

I am reading and it says, "Clearflights, these are the same as the normal varieties except that their flights, tail and head spot are clear and their body colour is solid all through." I know it is a pied, this is were I am getting confused! In this book I can see pieds but they don't call them pieds. So is that explanation corect or is it just old??

Hi guys, I have set up 4 pairs for breeding and they have laid there eggs. 2 pairs have 6 eggs, 1 pair has 7 they are my best breeders, and the other has 5 and still laying.. 2 hens are first time layers 1 of them has smaller eggs than her sister. I will find out soon enough! Will let you now how they all go. am expecting babies soon...

Hi eterri , this is the definition of a lacewing in one of my books if it helps. "Lacewings are a composite of the Cinnamonwing and the Lutino or Albino. Therefore body colours, cheek patches, ceres, eyes and feet will be identical to that of the Lutino or Albino. As with the Cinnamonwing the ground colouring if yellow on the lutino from the white on the Albino form. Hi Dawn, Sorry to hear about the eggs! But just some questions. You say her baby lines have gone, did you have her with her baby lines? ..How long have you had her? She may still be to young to breed and this could cause her to become egg bound when she is old enough to breed. you should wait till your birds are over 1 year old to breed them. Also I would agree with nerwen about your new bird don't put him with the others while they are breeding. This may cause alot of fighting amoung your other birds. Good luck dawn and keep us posted.

Please don't breed your 2 young hens, they are just babies. Do what Mr C has told you , but I think you need to do alot of reading before you start to breed.

I agree with hath and Mr C, Just be careful that your hens don't get to nasty, if they do you will have to separate them so they don't kill.

So have I got this right you have 1 male and 3 females??... In the same cage!!? With 1 nesting box!??

Hath is right he willl take to her and even quicker if he can't hear her calling. One of my old girls had her last clutch last year with 1 of my young boys so I let them have a clutch, then I put a young hen with him and they are still together. Good luck.

Have you thought about just swapping the hen over if she throws out the rest of the eggs!! The male you have may take to her.

Do you have another hen in breeding condition lin? She is a bit naughty.
