Babies dying at 2 - 3 days old
Sorry to hear the bad news... You have 3 hens and only 2 boxes so that could be the prob. Make sure the other hens arn't getting into the nesting box when mum comes out to poo or just to have a rest. Some hens can be very agressive to any other young and the new mum. So be carefull good luck.

help shall i clean breeding box
Do your babies look well? Are they developing well? eg... beaks, feet if so leave them a lone . It's not worth it if she may kill.

mom doesnt like babies
At 7 weeks they should be feeding themselves. Can you see them crack the seed and leave the husk behind? Feel the crop and if you should feel a ball there, they have eaten. Do keep a close eye on them, also the older chick might feed the younger one if it is not feeding well. Good luck and keep us posted.

Throwing eggs out

Advice needed - hen stopped laying a week ago
What sort of bump are we talking about? Being lively is a good thing but maybe she needs a vet check. Have you felt her rump to make sure it is not an egg? Also the vet can rule out a rupture, and if it is a rupture don't breed her again. About her poo it will be big for a while because she is still sitting and staying in the nest for longer than normal, so she is still hanging on. She wouldn't be so lively and moving around like normal if she was eggbound. A vet check wouldn't hurt though. Good luck and keep us posted.

too young to breed?
Love your flock, Like your white pied.

Guess the colours
Hi nerwen, When do we find out the answers I just can't wait.
-
who's sleeping in my nest ?
Your parent birds are split for blue. So they carrie the blue gene. Both your green birds must have had a green and a blue parent. Hope this helps. And if I am wrong Pass will let you know. Love to see some pics if you get the chance

egg laying
The eggs can hatch between 17 and 21 days depending on when the hen starts to brood. Touching the eggs? You can but you don't have to unless there is a problem or you are giving them to a forster mum. They shouldn't mind you touching the eggs or the babies, but some do! You just have to know your birds. Mine don't mind but I have had some that did, so I stoped breeding them. You have to clean your babies feet and check beak from about 2 and 1/2 weeks of age.

Thinking About Breeding
You need to do a lot of research before breeding your birds. Don't get me wrong, but i don't think you're ready yet since your first question was how to post pictures and nothing regarding the birds. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I also agree with everyone here, don't get us wrong but breeding is not as easy as it looks. Never breed your birds if there is a chance they may be related!

Breeding Boxes
Thats nice! does your son like birds ? Are you going to buy birds from a breeder or a pet store? Good luck and keep us posted.

Breeding Boxes
Hi kosmo there a few questions you should answer for yourself before you start to breed. Are your birds old enough to breed ? over 1 year old! And not to old for breeding? Are they healthly for breeding? Have you seen an avian vet to make sure? Don't take this the wrong way I'm not trying to pick, just making sure you are awhere of the things you should know. keep us posted.

Well done u too. great picture :bluebudgie:

Is she egg bound?
I think bambi it sounds like a rupture! Does it feel spongy? It could be a rupture or a tumor. Don't breed with her. Take her to an avain vet. I have had ruptures before and they have a normal life without breeding It will get worse if you try to breed. :bluebudgie:
