I noticed this the other day while out in the aviary. I saw him from the spotless side and thought "hang on! i thought Gherk had really nice spots!". Then i saw him from the other side and realised that he's just moulted half on them out! How cute.
  2. That's great!! You'll have to post pics of his new house when you get it. :fear I bet you get left with the cage cleaning jobs though?

....either Bea you have a good memory or it wasn't that long ago.... : I vote good memory. I can clearly remember pulling my grandma's cat's tail when i was like 2 years old. It's a memory cause i was the only witness. I felt terribly guilty about it. :(Laughing out loud):
  4. I was going to say that it should be stainless steel anyway and not rust.
  5. Welcome to the forums!! Hope you enjoy your time here. Cosmo is GORGEOUS!!! A very handsome budgie indeed. I couldn't help but notice you have him in a round cage? Round cages lack corners and a sense of security for birds. They're also usually small and impossible to arrange in a way that gives them lots of space to play. Just a few tips. It might be worth looking into a square/rectangular cage some time in the future.

When i was in kindergarten both the classes had pet bugdies. Our class had a hen called Sally who was not tame, the other class had one called Eddie who i think only had one wing or something and couldn't fly, he was tame. I loved having a class pet cause i loved animals and didn't have pets of my own. I always volunteered to look after Sally at weekends and over holidays. She never came out of her cage, and ate only seed. Looking back the instability of being a class pet is no life for a budgie. My brother recently told me that he also had a class budgie and one of the boys in his class ripped it's tail out. Sad life for a budgie indeed. I don't think it's a good idea.
  7. I didn't call him a fatty, Blinkie did. I think he's an adorable little pudgy budgie!
  8. Maybe cause it's a unique texture? Mine have never tried anything quite like it before. Some of the aviary birds will nibble at it but none go nuts for it.

Mine jump on snow pea sprouts the instant i put it anywhere near them. Blinkie is sometimes psychic and will just know when i'm going to the fridge to get some and will fly over, jump on it as i get it out of the container, roll on it as i wash it and then eat it when i peg it up on the cage. :budgiedance: Ozzie, Fizzy, Cookie and Bailee all prefer bok choy to snow pea sprouts, but both veggies are favourites.
  10. I've heard that too. I've offered it to my aviary budgies before and they turned their beaks up at it, (Laughing out loud)!
  11. :(Laughing out loud): Go for it. If you want a bigger version of one of the pics i can email it to you.
  12. ...a sexy blue budgie called Blinkie! Why hello Blinkie Take one more step...... Lovely day for a ... .... smooch!!! ....or two ....or three Urgh!! Mummy, save me! ARGH!!!! You didn't save me! Maybe you're finger is safe, it's not like there's room for that fatty up here What?!?! Again??? Muuuuuuumm!!
  13. Here's my flock snacking on some bok choy. As in my last batch of veggie photos Blinkie isn't in them. I think he wants you to think he's unhealthy!! In reality he and Cookie were the first to dig into the bok choy and he stalked off when i pulled out the camera. Fizzy says Mmmmm this green stuff is good! Cookie sneaking in Now Fizzy's sneaking in, peek-a-boo Cookie Bailee Ozzie stuffing his beak Cookie coming in for seconds *cough* more like fifths *cough* The whole flock
  14. An all pellet diet is as bad as all seed, so, having said that. I feed Harrisons to my indoor birds. You've only got two budgies so a $20, 450g bag of Harrisons mash, kept in the fridge would probably last for approx. 3-4 months if you mixed 1-2 tsp in with their seed. It clings to the seed a bit so they usually eat it. :budgiedance:
  15. :(Laughing out loud): Love your tiel budgie. Great pics!
  16. Some vets stock vetafarm pellets. If you can find them you want the finch crumbles. I get Harrisons from my vet but i think he's the only place in Australia to stock them...
  17. Took stacks of photos of my evil little flock today, but decided to only post my favourite two of each bird....plus a couple of extras *cough cough*. First we have evil blue Blinkie This is his new "humping toy", no matter what i take out of the cage or how i arrange it he always finds one toy to hold while humping a perch. And here he is just looking pretty! Next up is evil fat Ozzie :ausb: He went into flirting overdrive when i was trying to take photos Love this photo! Evil crested Cookie Stealing the budgies seed stick Flying to join the gang on the budgie cage And last but not least is evil cute Bailee (he is pure evil, i was studying for a test yesterday and the whole time he had his beak in my ear hole and was whistling like an idiot). Playing with my zipper Looking a bit TOO innocent....he's plotting evilness And here's the extras that i wanted to show you aswell! *yawn* *scratchies* Buddies Blinkie looking too darn cute (this is a picture from yesterday) And Oswald finger wrestling with me
  18. ......a great big huntsman spider! (shudders) I walked outside to see______________

It's kind of amazing just how long a budgie leg is when it's straightened out like that. She's on the road to recovery now, all you have to do is spoil her...

He's got silvery cheek patches. Mauves will have the bluey purple ones that most budgies do. I think he's a grey... As for Frisky, i agree with everyone else. yf2 cobalt normal. Gorgeous budgies!
  21. How adorable.

I'm so sorry. It's so sad how fast and unexpectedly they can go.
