  1. Def NOT clearbody. You may have your mutations confused here Amy aww whoops sorry - I thought it was a bit similar to Bettie's two little clearbody chicks. I remember seeing them at the beginning of the year.
  2. I was thinking maybe a clearbody? I didn't think it was a YF T2 - I didn't think the yellow would have been suffused through the blue feathers yet as he still looks very young? *waits for the more experienced members*
  3. Ohhhh he's finally here!!! How gorgeous Your birds are too of course but gosh he is way cute
  4. Very pretty and different.Melanistic Spangle? I have been reading up on them. I have just received my White DF Melanistic Spangle hen - she has pale blue suffusion on her neck and a bit on her chest.
  5. This is a great idea - it will make staff and members of the public form better and informed decisions regarding their birds and/or purchases. Hi 5 ladies on a birdtastic idea! One thing I would possibly note is - place Budgerigar Breeders Club Inc. somewhere on the brochures and leaflets for people who don't know what BBC stands for Ideas for topics for leaflets - just the basics Sexing Baby or Adult Health and Wellbeing - subtopic - Medications and treatments Foods - subtopic - harmful and friendly - subtopic - plants toxic and non toxic Housing Or am I on the wrong wavelength? Are these too complex and not what you're after?
  6. Glad you like the names
  7. could you maybe take one or two of the little light globes out? That will make it darker
  8. Thimble is lovely The chicks are doing really well. Well done with your first clutch!
  9. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....l=cheek+patches This is Finnie's thread on cheeck patches - she was asking a similar question and has found lots of inof
  10. That is a great photo to show people fertile eggs! You should candle them - never know, they may be fertile!
  11. Do you have some pictures? I name birds based on what they look like, on whether a partner or friend is named or not and the circumstances I received them. Like this - I have a cock bird named Santa - at the same time I received a hen so I named her Mrs Claws I received them around christmas time
  12. It's brilliant to see you so excited and enthusiastic When I was younger my family used to colony breed. I think it's most budgie lover's starting point. To start off with, it went brilliantly, but then more birds were added, more chicks were born and more and more hens started going after the same nesting boxes. It ended up in alot of wounded/maimed and/or killed birds. Not saying this will happen to you, but by looking at the previous posts, it has happened. Maybe this time it wont happen - fingers crossed and best wishes it doesn't. I won't do it again as I don't want to put my birds through that sort of trauma. Plus I get to select which cock I breed to which hen and hopefully some of the colours, varieties and mutations I want will come out. Selective breeding of your birds is good if there are certain goals you want to achieve Maybe you don't have the funds and/or support from home to be able to let you have the choice to selective breed. Maybe you don't have the space. Or maybe you just find it an easier way to have your birds. You have your reasons for Colony Breeding. I may not agree with your choice in breeding, but I'm not one to judge - it would be hypocritical of me to do so as I once colony bred. BUT with time and experience, you will learn happiness and heartache, learn different things, grow with your birds and build your own knowledge. And hopefully take some of our info here on board We're only trying to help you. Again, good luck and Hi 5 to enthusiasm!
