  1. No, it would be Di. But I get your point Renée is such a beautiful name in French and Spanish but in Australian it turns into Rinaiiiii. (yuk!) I do like your name, and I don't think in an Aussie accent, so that never occured to me! I still don't like the idea "Di" projects..... Finnie hahahaha tha'ts funny! I'd never have thought that about the name Diana And Renee - I've never ever heard the name "Renee" spoken in true Aussie bogan/country styles ="G'day Rinaiiii, wars garn orn larve?" HAHHAHAHA I've NEVER heard it like that but thats how it came across when you said your name. I quite like the name Renee, some people spell it Rene (for a guy normally) and that's just as good Going back to what Karen said about Daryl - Daz or Dazza etc, I frequently get called Aimz or Aims - my name can fit into that category
  2. Actually I was going to ask a similar question as my aviary isn't yet attached to the ground - sorta not sure how that is done. Also not sure how everyone keeps the rain from leaking underneath the bottom of the aviary? Also Dave, it's looking the goods Can't wait to see it finalised with your birds!
  3. Hahaha soooo full! Brilliant that Big Blue has taken on the major feeding role - what a great daddy. Nubbly is sooo cute :grouphug:
  4. As it wasn't an overly hot day, I released Santa and Mrs Claws into the aviary today So excited!! They are the first of my budgies to go into the aviary and they seem quite pleased. I tried to take some photos of my handsome man but, well, he decided to play peek a boo instead. Can you see me? Peek a Boo! Missed ME!!! BOO! So I sprung him as he started eyeing off Mrs Claws who is still totally disgusted with his advances and completely uninterested, poor boy. And because I love him soo muchly, I decided to take a few more photos. I love his blow and beard and his colours :grouphug: I tried to get Mrs Claws but she was much too interested in flying around and I haven't yet figured out how to take motion pictures. I shall try and take some photos of her tomorrow.
  5. I thought it was you on MBC when I was browsing today I've used my full married name on there Hii Finnie no you're definitely not stupid. It would have confused me too if it were someone else doing it.
  6. Oh that's so sad, I'm sorry to hear that
  7. They are just gorgeous Finnie Healthy little bundles of fluff
  8. You're right, it was disrespectful and I apologise. Sorry Jeddo, I was just being silly and kidding around. In all honesty I hadn't even thought of where budgies evolved from. Hope you get your answers soon
  9. When I first joined here I had Angelic82 because i'm angelic *blink blink* no really its because my nickname is Angel and 82 is my birth year. Now I have had it changed to Amy S - my name :offtopic:
  10. Its all good, we can still see the poor eye. I hope she gets better soon :offtopic:
  11. I must have skimmed this bit hahaha us youngins are good. I have a few friends who are my age and younger who are attempting the budgie hobby Sadly I'm out of that age bracket by a few years :offtopic:
  12. Have you maybe got the focus set to background focus only? so anything in the foreground is blurred? What if you used the Macro setting? Does your camera have that? It's good for extreme close ups My little cinnamon had sore red eyes. I've been bathing them in salt water and they are almost normal again. Salt water is brilliant stuff :offtopic:
  13. Love the Albinos, very cute :offtopic: Would love to see pics of the new babies
  14. Now that I've looked closer, I can see those too, very faintly though.
  15. Oh I'm sorry! As Kaz asked, and I had no idea, I just wanted to find out.
  16. They came from cats...Really they did....that's why cats and budgies have a love/hate relationship. Though with some its a hate/hate relationship :offtopic: HAHAHA
  17. I can see markings on my screen too, though as anne has said, maybe they're shadows. I can see faint fine cinnamon markings along the edge of the flights. Would love to see more pics Not because I want to have a guess at mutations, but because I love spangles and this darling is just sooo gorgeous :offtopic:
  18. nubbly - of textiles; having a rough surface; "a sweater knitted of nubbly homespun yarns" :offtopic: HAHAHAHAHA sorry I had to google to find out. Your little chick is nothing like a rough surface, but I suppose you could say the feathers look like a sweater
  19. Ooh look, your gorgeous hen! love her! good luck with these two :offtopic: Sorry for your losses Dave. Hopefully this round with this pairing will go much better.
  20. Sooooo cute! love the photography
  21. oh poop! I was sooo looking forward to it! Will just have to wait and look even more forward to its new rescheduled date Can't wait!
  22. Hi 5 for persistence!! That's great news, well done!
  23. That is a really good tip - would never have thought of it! Thanks, I find it works really well as the breeze, no matter how warm it is, goes through the frozen towel and cools the air behind. I have also just placed some frozen cooler containers behind the towel but in front of the mesh for extra coolness. I made some dodgy little container holders out of some wire today. They seem to be holding okay. They LOOK bad but if they work, I don't care haahah. Kaz, I love the sprinkler setup at the open end of your aviary. The birds look very happy Nubbly, glad you haven't had any losses
  24. Just watched channel 9 and it said the weather was 40.8c soooo hot for our animals. I have been wetting towels, freezing them and pegging them onto one part of each cage and each roof today. Each time I go and check, the budgies are sitting practically on top of each other to cool themselves.
  25. Gosh that is a fabulous aviary!! Well done! I'd like to get mine done eventually, but time, money and resources are a problem haha doh! It's a great hobby to have, breeding budgies isn't it? I love owning budgies and can't wait to breed them, but I think I will wait until I have my breeding room and flights set up. Congrats!
