Gosh I can't believe I missed this bit!!! YESSS I love them, they are brilliant. That cock kept his lustful advances going all the way home *batters eyelashes* - much like Santa did haha amorous creatures!! :hap: Back on topic though, I am grateful for all the information I receive from everyone here - it is very important to me. Besides, call me selfish, but we can't have this forum fall apart because of differences of opinions - gosh then where would I get my info from? I'd suffer major withdrawal symptoms if that happened!!

Ring Question
okay so if I were to breed in say October, then I'd get blue rings? Or would I get purple? The next breeding season for ring to be issued is September - is that correct? LOL that looks funny - I mean breed my birds. I'd look a tad funny with blue or purple rings

Ring Question
Pardon my novice ignorance  i'm still trying to learn more about rings and stuff - they confuse me a bit. Is there some information somewhere that will teach me the colors of the years and when in each year they are issued? I have read what has been written above, i've also done a search but unless someone sits down and teaches me or I find a booklet or something, I think I may end up going round and round in circles... sorry everyone.

Culls and Helping the Purchaser
I think I am too much of a novice and am much too inexperienced to judge this topic or have much input. BUT I will say that to me a show budgie and its background is no different than a cat or dog with a pedigree. If I were to buy a pedigree cat or dog, I'd like to know it's history - I'd expect it to have papers. Which is what a budgie's ring is to me - its papers... A pet type also deserves the same sort of paper work, but in most cases this isn't done sadly. I would be happy enough to give the info of my birds to people who ask, when I plan on breeding but that's just me. I like all the information I get from people about budgies and EVERYONE here has given valuable points why we should give information to help newbies and novices like myself, and also Renee has put across why she feels she doesn't need to. Had I of come across this when first joining a budgie club, maybe I'd have been put off. But I highly doubt it as my love for the bird and learning is stronger than someone not wanting to share information. I'd have just tried somewhere else - it may take longer but I'd have gotten there okay so not everyone agrees on what she has done and how she goes about it. But I guess everyone is allowed to choose their own way of things, even if it may be frowned upon by others, I'm definitely not taking sides, that most certainly doesn't interest me - gosh I'm almost 28 years old, not in school. I have better more important things to do like look after my little girl, my husband and my birds. I just wanted to try and let people know what I think as a newbie myself. Sorry if this offends anyone

Hawk Problem
I had a rogue hawk here last year around October/November. It was always at my next door neighbours aviary, but it came into our patio and managed to catch the leg of one of my budgies through the cage. I shooed it away and It is now terrified of big black handbags. It has been back a few times since but as soon as I go into the patio - black bag in hand, it flies away. I have been told you can legally catch them in a cat trap, as it doesn't kill the bird. It just makes catching and removal a whole heap easier. Or... Matt's suggestion would work. But maybe a slug gun not a shotgun*** hahaha ***Please note that this is not something I do. But if I felt it absolutely necessary as a last resort would consider.***
