It was hubby and I's anniversary on Friday, he took the kids out today for the morning and when they got back I was given a beautiful necklace and 2 BUDGIES!!! YAY !!!, I tried so hard to contain my horror when I saw these two little angels, as 1 had VERY WRONG clipped wings... My daughter picked the pied with the clipped wings and hubby picked the Lutino.... Such a sweet gesture, but who in their right mind clips wings so far, it was a pet shop, my husband is aware on my thoughts of pet shops, so not even sure why he went there...I don't want to say anything and seem ungrateful..... Since the pictures were taken I have bathed her wings in some warm water, is there anything more I can do?? Also...I sure one is Lutino...Im thinking hen....quite young. Is the other a recessive pied hen??...no iris rings....not sure on age?? Thank you.... Anne

Finally.....after 2.5 weeks we have 1 egg!! Billy is green opaline and Grace is normal grey, I know that green is dominant so the most likely outcome will be green chicks, unless either is split for blue? If this clutch goes well and I end up with non green chicks will I be able to tell which parent is split for what? I mean, say I get a blue normal chick, that would mean that Grace is split for blue not Billy? Hope that makes sense ...

Hi Luvbir1, In my opinion, Neville is 100% correct..... I spent MONTHS reading the FAQ's and other members post's on most subjects and learned HEAPS. Still have heaps to learn.... There is a lot of experienced members on this site, very informative, and people willing to help.

All done and all good..... My girl was so brave..... (not to mention me and hubby!!) Thank you all so much for your advice. Hubby held her and I got a good grip of her leg and toe with one hand and the nail in the other... in 1 fast pull it was gone...I used the cornflour after it was pulled, I thought it would bleed a lot more, but only a few drops, now I can see whats going on more I think she may have just broke the nail close to the toe as there seems to be a bit of nail left...? Chrysocome:..I put pressure on the toe for 2 minutes and there was no more bleeding, thanks so much. Thanks to all, I feel so much better now, and I'm sure if Skipper could talk she would thank you too..... Picture of the end result. I will keep her inside for the night in the hospital cage and keep a close eye on her.

Hi, My girl skipper has half ripped her nail off...... I called the animal hospital and they won't see her til 4.30pm on Monday, as thats a public holiday here for Ekka show day there is a surcharge $101.50 for the consult....goodness me...I will pay the fee thats not the issue but I don't want to wait til Monday.....can I help my poor girl?? I have removed her from the aviary to a cage by herself. Should I bath it in salty water? can I use Betedine? Should I pull it off? I'm beside myself.....

I wonder what it's like in Ohio????

Yes B_P, I do have a sky blue split recessive hen that I have paired up with my DEC male Austin....I am really hoping somthing happens with these two because I would really love more DEC's....but not much is happening, they have been paired up for over a week and no sign of "action"... This is my girl Alice with Austin.
