  1. Yes the first thought that came to be was an illness that one or more birds had and pasted on to the other birds.
  2. 1. Are their any points taken away for showing Yellow face birds? Yes any suffusion (bleed) of green into the body gets penalized. 2. What do I look for to make sure they are a good yellow face budgie? If your wanting to start with show birds then the same points as a normal bird. This would be my thoughts although I'm only just starting with show birds. 3. Are their any good pairings for yellowface? (Faults to good things or colors or other mutations) just watch for suffusion in the birds (the type 2 yellowfaces)
  3. Yes all will be Opaline, interesting about the split, although if the breeder is after greens only the split can be carried down the generation with out knowing.
  4. looking around in just starting to go in the box is only the start, if they are going to breed from this point it could be another 2 weeks before any eggs appear. The hen need to be sure the nest is safe first.

Don't forget to Quarantine your new boy for at least a month (30 days) Some illness can lay dormant and the stress of moving to a new home can cause them to break out. Many illness can be transmitted to other birds. As Elly said it's normal for them not to eat for a say or so. If the cage doesn't have a grill on the bottom sprinkle some food on the ground, the tend to find it easier like that rather than the dish it is in. Or if there is a grill add a small dish on the ground. If you have millet add a bit to the cage as well, i have had a few in the first days happily eat some millet in easy reach before finding the seed dish.

He looks so cute, good work.
  7. sorry I'm a bit confused on what the sound is that you are hearing.
  8. Good to hear Good luck with the little one.
  9. The Double factor yellowface that shows up white is for the type 1 only. If you want the type 2 (that gets the colour bleed) I wouldn't use a bird like that. If you just want any type of yellowface spangle then yes it would work that parent would give the yellowface gene to each of their kids.

a very even pink all over. Yes you have a boy this time.
  11. Great family and I love the mix of blues.
  12. Yes that is what I thought too Karen but they are meant to be clear at birth not loss colour later. Has there been any stress to Poppy the last few months?

Hi Tory, Welcome to the site and what great pictures for judging genders. You have a little girl, and I would say the blue on in the last is a girl too.
  14. Yes a yf DF spangle and a yf sf spangle will give a chance of some DF spangles. I take it you mean to use Buddy in the breeding. I wasn't sure if he was still part of your flock or not.
  15. Ellys right a YF spangle to a spangle (or another yf spangle) will give you the type you want.
  16. very odd the loss of colour in the tail is interest. Can we get pictures of when he was young becuase I'm not seeing anything odd about the wings.
  17. Well done Daz. Things are going super well for you cheers. I was going to ask how you won Best Dominant pied from those birds...but thought I should just read it again first.
  18. Hello Fetheredpets. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with Star. Was the lump hard?, soft? still skin colour or yellowy? Has star be showing other signs of nest - chewing heaps, digging about, staying in one area of the cage/room/house. It's a bit abnormal for a single budgie to want to nest/lay eggs but it can happen Of cause the safest thing to do is see an avian vet and have them check it out.
  19. it still stand that you can have a fallow with one or two dark factors. Sebby has at least one to get the cobalt offspring.
  20. If they do take a 3rd or 4th clutch they do not let the parents raise them.
  21. Hey

  22. aww look at them asleep
  23. Isn't it fun when you get a surprise. Thank for taking the suggested name (and playing with it) I know what you mean with the colour, she kinda looks like Connie, one of the first birds I breed at that age. I think she is another yellowface and possible grey?
  24. Ralia ?? It's not really a name Just the last bit of Australia (Ozzy makes me think of Aussie) OR Kelly - the daughter of Ozzy Osborne Ino can mask the pied gene - she could be recessive. With very few markings and NONE on the wings it's hard to say if she is a dominant or recessive. You will know for sure later when she does or doesn't get an iris ring. I agree with you in thinking you have a pied and both are possible from this pairing. (Mum is dominant bing masked by the ino gene or both parents are split recessive)
