Violet
mauve is a a bird with 2 dark factors. I'm not seeing violet tints around the shoulders or tail/leg area. I would say he is just a Mauve. I love the look of the yellowface any other pictures of him?

Anyone Had A Bird Like This?
I haven't in counted FM so I can't say much about that. This could have happened from bulling in the aviary or as you say self inflicted. If it's the latter you should be seeing the behaviour more with the stress of the move. Or it could have injured himself which caused the feathers around o fall out too.

Is She A Mutation?
They she isn't a yellowface. I think she might be violet. Ans she is a recessive. As for Beep I would think dominant pied due to the colour higher on the chest (as Elly stated) Any other shots of them showing their back/wings?

Whats The Difference!
No differance to personalty, that is different to each and ever bird no matter the mutation. They are called dominant and recessive becuase of the way the gene is inherited. You only need one Dominant gene for that gene to show on the bird. You need two recessive genes for that gene to show on the bird. If the bird only receives one recessive gene that that bird is known to be split for that gene.

What Mutation Is In My Birds?
I don't know about the candles sorry. However I would wait to get a nest box, even if your new bird is a male s/he is too young to breed. They need to be at least a year old. A nest box with two hens is a disaster in the making. Hens become very violent towards others when they take ownership of a nesting site. $150 sounds like a nice budge to look for a cage.

What Mutation Is In My Birds?
You have a sky blue normal. A olive normal. - no I just saw the next picture she is a olive dominant pied. Your new one I have stated I think she is a greywing sky blue. That cage I would say would be the smallest for the three. If you are able I would look into a larger one, one that is wider than taller if possible. The placement looks fine to be involved in the family and I'm sure they love talking to (or over ) the TV.

Small Baby Bird Gender?
It fun and games sometimes with cameras. If you can move the cage take them outside in the sun and take the pictures, the brighter the light the faster the shutter which makes less chance of blur.

Nice Then Mean Then Dead!
Unfortunately budgies are very good at hiding any sickness. Even people with 100's of birds would not be able to offer suggestions, they would only be really sure if they had taken the bird to the vet first and had medication for a certain illness. Most of the illnesses they get have the same symptoms as well. The other way to know is for a vet to do an autopsy.

Does This Baby Look Normal?
yes the baby looks normal to me. I agree with Norm, look at the placement on the hand then look at your hand, the bub may only be 1 inch in real life which would make it hard to see this detail.

Our New 6 Week Old Budgie & Feeding
A one wing clip is what was *thought* to be correct in past years now more believe a two wing clip is best, for as Saliorwolf stated so the bird isn't unbalanced but still unable to fly. (Flight feathers are called that for a reason ) Also the wings could start growing back earlier or later than 6 months the time depends on when s/he has his/her next moult. You have a very young budgie (some pet shops sell ALL their budgies as 'young') and heaps if hand training and involvement now will help with a friendly budgie like the other cheeky one that wanted to take over the keyboard. A young male budgie has a very even and bright pink cere. A young hen will have a mixed cere of pinky-purple, blue and white or even tan. Paler rings around the nares are a sign of a hen as well. With these pictures I'm undecided as to gender. Again hard with the pictures. Any chance of a front on shot? The full wings is a touch confusing but I'm leaning towards a dutch dominant pied. The can have fully marked wings and most of the body colour as a normal too.

Small Baby Bird Gender?
there is a setting on camera normal showing a tulip/flower shape that help with close up pictures not be so blurry. I'm still sticking with hen with the colours I can see.

Should He Be Able To Twist Like That?
Good to hear that he has been given the all clear by the vet. Quarantine is important so you can watch for signs of sickness, it is stress that can bring these illnesses out. This is what you want to keep limited the most, if you think the best thing is for them to be next to each other then do so. I have seen a bird do what you are stating and it looks as if the legs are going to snap off! It could be caused by boredom or Blue trying to get out towards Harley.

Some Of My New Birds:
You have simply given the http link to the pictures rather than the link to the picture itself. If you go back to where you get small thumbnails of the pictures and copy the bottom line and paste in a post they will show up like the other pictures. The Clearbody looks good the markings on the wings are a bit washed out but the body is a nice even colour.

Rain
Yes i know the trouble with wet ground I want to upgrade my floor with pavers to help with this, it will still get wet in areas but should dry faster. I'm going to look out for these crystals to try them.

More Problems...
This is a normal behavior, your hen is wanting to start a second round and doesn't want the last lot back in her nest now. She doesn't see them as her kids just another bird trying to take over her site. I'm glad you have another that is willing to take over feeding and helping them in this period.

Rain
Nice topic to remind people to the checks to do after rain. My food is kept up high and at the back of the aviary where water can't reach. I have not heard of the use of these crystals do you use it daily or only for a period of time (eg. 1 week)

Small Baby Bird Gender?
a young male has a very strong even pink cere. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=13906 This link might help you with looking at young male and female ceres.

My Budgies Colour (and Sex/cere Question) Help Please!
I agree with Elly with Fully body Greywing. this might not match exactly. There are three levels of the gene in Australia, the greywing, clearwing and dilute. However in England they do not have the dilute any longer. Your local area might not recognize or have a standard for all three leaves and group them all under lightwings. Yes Pip I would say is female. I have had hens gain that pale coloured cere when out of breeding condition. I have also heard of other hens never gaining the normal brown cere all their lives. This is one of my hens with a pale blue cere, she was sold to me as male. It took almost a year but she did finally gain a brown cere.
