  1. stunning girl, great spangle markings
  2. That is a common mistake with the wide title of parakeets for budgies but there is a long list of parakeet birds. They are not burkes the tails are not long enough. (unless young ones have short tails like Budgies?) if you could i would check with the breeder for more info. a short tail might mean they are part of the parrotlet group as the title parakeet means 'long tail'
  3. Grey and Violet are Dominant over all colours????? ( this seems odd as I have always learnt that green ( yellow is ) as libby saids they are factors, yellow is the dominant gene but if combined with the grey gene the bird will appear grey-green. Blue & Yellow ( white & Greens) are Dominant over greywings again this is mixing the colour gene of the bird to another recessive gene. any normal bird (blue or green) will be dominant over the greywing gene as it is recessive and needs one gene from each parent to appear.
  4. Dutch is another term for the clearflight pied. Dominant is used widely but mostly refers to Austrailian domiant pied
  5. I'll take the grey pied off your hands
  6. Sorry but why should they have a shorter breeding time frame over the 'pet' type birds? The stress of breeding affects them all and retirement is needed for all birds.
  7. i knew there was something else!
  8. The tail is only a sign when young, this is when it is clear like a normal spanlge while the wings look normal, with mouting the wing patterns start to appear like a normal spangle. it would be hard to pick out a M. Spangle once grown from a normal. another m.spangle (after moulting)
  9. personally I would state greywing, i just know with computer screens can change the colour somewhat making brown look more grey. They fact you don' t have any visual cinnamons in your flock helps (but if you don' t know the history of all your birds some males may be carrying it)
  10. DrNat - cinnamon is also a choice, what would you call the mother? she would have to be a Cinnamon and not greywing for that chick to be one.

Thank you all, i wish the camer lasted longer before it died but i got most of them which was good, and the young ones that now are all grown up. **Liv** - gave up with the tidy and removed it. As I have a weekend again after overtime work I'm getting some new ones for them
  12. grey green graywing - just like mom but with out the opline. in the second picture you can just make out the start of a black tail which is a sign of grey-green if the chick was dark green it would be navy. also in the last picture the cere looks to be male to me.
  13. what is her name??
  14. some will be double factor spangles, but you can contol that gene as it is visually different to the single factor
  15. You have a hen. A cute grey recessive pied girl.
  16. not sure of your intentions with breeding but it is normally best not to creat DF greys as it can get a strong hold in your flock, you can't tell a sf from a df and it is a dominant gene. but can i have your girl?
  17. Yes, swelling around the vent area, more time spent in the nest box, scratching about or just sepnding time in there.

It's been a while for the older members here and i think high time for all the new members to see my feathered family. Is this Razzle, the sister of a pair I got from Daz (borther is Dazzle ) Melon - on of the youngest from last year's breeding. Father is Kree and Mother is Berry. Behind is the sister of Ewok who hasn't got a name yet. Kringle Brother to Melon. He was dubbed this after his older look-alike brother nicknamed from here as Santa passed away in an accident youngester called Ewok (borther was adopted and named Wickett) Chewie (chewbacca) seems I'm getting a starwars theme going. Aunt to Ewok and named as her siblings were given starwars names by the new owners. Poka - another bird from Daz. he loves to come and say hello. left: I'm not 100% sure but I think it is Kazza, he is the father of Ewok (and others) he is my first M.Spangle that was hatched from eggs given from Daz, if not him then it will be his Brother Minka Right: Tootie (Tootie-fruity) she is a yellowface texas clearbody, the mother of a few in here and Grandmother. Left: Squash, Brother of Melon and Kringle (Kree and Berry are parents) Right: Storm, i can only work that out as I can see the ring. Storm is a younger brother of Berry. Left to Right: Kree, Dazzle, err either Storm or Echo, Elle (another chick hatched from an egg from Daz) Kree left on his own. Reepicheep Left to Right: Ewok??, Chewie i believe, young one with out a name (brother to Melon, kringle, squash), Squeaker (uncle to the pre named birds) Lef to Right: Dot (older sister to Melon,Kringle, Squash) She was given this name as she is the biggest of the lot, and Ewok (i am thinking) Pie - old man of the group. He is my second bird and the one that sired the start of the family. He is a great-grandfather to the young ones. and still flirting like mad. Another young one with out a name, she is sister to Ewok (Kaza and Reepicheep are parents) behind is Razzle and Squash. She is a M.Spnagle like her dad. I think i may have missed some, but the batteries died, and i was getting cold again out there, plus it is hard to take pictures when the birds are on shoulders and head.
  19. Buddy is Male, if Charlie cere doesn't look like his then you have a hen
  20. okay i skipped all the talk but I would like to know what sort of 'expert' would stant Goldface and light green in the same statment. I'm guess this has been sorted but texas clearbody was the first type to come to mind with the first picture, the second comfirms it. Edit: and now i see Easley clearbody was talked about. As stated it is rare and so 99% of the TCB is the answer.
  21. agree with first one Golden face type 2 opaline spangle. second loosk greywing to me
  22. thanks for that, so she gave the yellowface gene, nice little lady too
  23. grey wing wasn't meaning that there was grey on the wings, that is the name of one of the dilute genes in budgies, but I agree with Norm that dilute would match better. we would need better pictures of the wing to tell any more
  24. If you are after some DEC then get two non realated spangles and breed your own
  25. can I see mum and dad? Agree with Libby for all but 4 i'm not seeing violet signs on the bub, cobalt would be safer to state
