Gender confused budgie?
I think Merlin is still a boy (i've never heard before of budgies able to change genders and I don't believe it) The change of cere colour would be related to heath issues. The tumour that can't be found most likely. Affecting the hormone levels just like in humans sort of thing.

was I crazy?
I wouldn't worry abou the discolouration on the bottom, that just means the cage has seen a bit of sun in it's life and it can't harm your budgie. As to the bars well to me it looks like there is a bit of rust to it. Athough I had my freckle in a rusty cage when i first had her and nothing bad happened to her. and if it only on the part of the door you might be able to get sometime to seal it off. As to the size they both look about the same to me. Is this your way to get another bird??? :redalbino:

young budgie weight/eating
poor little guy. Glad to hear that he is not underweight. Rainbow what is this I see you can using American to defind an budgie!!!! okay I can agree that an exhibition size bird is commonly called English but not a pet budgie being American.

New Cage!
gee that cage looks VERY familar I think as a max ten budgies would fit, but 6 budige would be perfect. (that's how many i want in my cage ) Is Sunny all yellow? I can't quite tell that in the pics, in some it look as if he as a greem rump but it might just be the trick of the light. I think he is a he the cere is a pinky colour right now.

Advice please - Mum is tired
gee at three weeks Dad should be taking over a lot of the feeding. If you fear for the safety and lives of the babies then take over from the parents.

Bald but still my babe !
Info from other post : Hi there !, I have just joined up and am hoping for some advice !. I have been searching the web for information about feather loss and skin problems in budgies. My budgie is 12 years old , and called SNOWY. Up until a month and a half ago he was fully feathered and enjoying a normal old age, however, after a hard moult he began to lose the feathers on his head and body. My vet has treated him with antibiotics and mite drops and he is on a high vitamin/protien diet, but the problem is progressing ( although the feather loss has lessened ). Is there anything else I can do for him ?. The vet thinks it is a virus , but because of his age cannot carry out the blood/skin tests needed to verify this. He is eating well and behaving as he did before this started. I would add a few photo,s of himso you could see the problem but I,m new to this computer stuff and don,t know how. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very gratefully recieved ! ta,ta, cal. (i'll now remove the other one) That porr little man, and this happened like over night? I would guess that his cage and toys have been totally scrubed clean so as to rule out transfer from that. Tho I bout it since it's confined to the head. I've never seen or heard anything about it. How old is he?

Is she egg bound?
Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order. What you have spoke about doesn't sound normal at all. Hath she said it was inside her so I don't think a prolapse sounds right. The egg could have broken inside her or it might not me breeding related at all, sometimes tumours look yellow.

New cage for my babies
Of cuase I would I think i'll start to blind them with all the pics I'll be taking :(Laughing out loud): They squabble now Julie- I'm itching to get them in but I have to get some help to set up the perches and that can't happen till latter sallyc- Yep I think they will all sit on the same perch, all squshed together for about 10 mins before getting the nerve up to look around
-
is this normal
(Laughing out loud) Lin that was great and just what freckle sounded like too. Yes this is normal although I've never heard of the male plucking himself to get som nest decortation, but I can't see why they can't Pie was allowed into the nest box as well and I thought it was very odd myself since ALL the books i read said only the female would enter. I would just keep an eye on them still though becuase if she isn't ready to lay and egg they might not get out enough to mate.

my babies
YAY okay since you said i was right I will match the names from left to right not the other way
-
Is this a good cage?
That looks just like the one I just bought but fancier since I didn't get platforms and ladders But I'm still happy. Sky look closely and there are horizontal brakes on the cage, so the budgies can't slide all the way from the top down. Your two will have a ball i'm sure.

New cage for my babies
(Laughing out loud) he should learn to use that cutes to get you money so you can buy him more things. Then again I can't see Blinkie working a day in his life.
