The trouble is there isn't any blue pigment in the head area on budgies once you remove the yellow pigments you are left with white unlike in the body of a budgie your left with blue. SOme call an ablino a blue lutino becuase you need to blue mutation and the ino mutation to create one (like your Lexi)
  2. orry if my question was unlcear I wanted to know how long they have been in the cage with the nest box.
  3. Aww cute cute That tail feather is to die for, I hope he keeps it like that now (as in it doesn't go back to yellow after the next moult)

Aww that's great to hear I wish you well with the training.
  5. He just might be a bit more of a pig with the food than others, i've seen budgies with that shape before.
  6. Thanks The last is going to be super Tiny to the other if it hatches on the 18thday instead of the 17th day like the rest (which is today) I finally picked on Reepiceep Narnia fans out there should know where the name came from. I was thinking of another name but I'm going to save that for the last one if it hatches. Reep suited this one better.

:(Laughing out loud): that had me laughing, what a great picture
  9. It's the strenght of the light more than the size, but if your seeing the yolk then the light is fine. By day 11 it shouldn't be clear. Hens will sit on egg fertile or not, even fake eggs or marbles will be brooded by a hen. If she doesn't lay another egg tomorrow then I say it's safe to remove them so she will start her cycle again.
  10. Givew them time, the first time with breeding they have to lern how to balance correctly for each other, it sounds like your hen isn't staying in the 'u' shape for him long enough. It could be becuase she isn't happy with a watcher. (you) How long have they been in the cage together?

It hasn't happened, not sure if it could. I was surpised with this question my friend asked me the same thing about two weeks ago The closest I think you could get is a blue opaline Clearwing. That would still have some white markings on the wings and a white face.
  13. okay Bea who is it?
  14. I would be worried with a cloth in case it got caught on mums claws as she was leave and could then break eggs or tumble little babies out of the box. Any wood shavings that is used for mice or rats that you find at a pet store is fine. Yes the mum will push it away but simply having it around will soak up some the droppings and make it easier to clean.

I'm sorry I haven't hear of something like that. A bacteria could have gotten into th beak and started to erode it away (kinda like Gangrene) But I really don't know, if you have other chicks on other boxes keep a close eye on them, and if your worried take chick and at least mum to the vets. If your going to use that box again I would give a good scrub out first. I'm sorry for you loss.
  16. Aww :bluebudgie: Look at the cute little faces :ausb: I'm glad all was okay with mum and daughter.
  17. either he isn't courting her correctly yet or she doesn't accept him as mate. althought it is easy tp iar up budgies there are some that will not bond. Give them some more time, i'm piar where like that at the start and I now have four little babies.
  18. If they arn't all is not lost, you can remove them and get her to cycle again and maybe ome mating will happen.
  19. Right, it can teke up to two week before an egg appears then. *topic moved*

Nice to meet you and it sounds your doing all youc an for your little Zoey What colours is s/he? Is there a way we can see a picture at all. We all love seeing their sweet little faces. Just be sure to give her the bath while you are there and watching, not keep it filled all the time. As to the picking/grooming. Budgies grrom a lot and they check each and every feather by running it through their beack, if zoe isn't pulling the feathers out I don't think you have a problem just a little one that feel safe where s/he enough to focus on grooming rather than what is around.
  23. Good luck Daz, are you hoping to get some mormals this time
  24. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
Ye baby budgies have blak markings on their beaks and it vary by how much each time. But just be sure it's not poop stuck on the beak becuase this can deform the beak and possible kill the chick.
  25. All the bird will be split for the yellow face just like a normal blue.
