  1. I thought so Squeaker and Echo are going great, and Mum was not at all happy with me when i made her move, just to take some pictures :(Laughing out loud): Marine even got in the box at one stage to see just want I was up to. (if I didn't tell you he started going in the box a few days before the eggs hatched.) Pictures, I think Squeaker is the top one.:
  2. Tha't just want I'm saying Lovey Yes Hurdy that would be true, but the yellow can be all over, look at freckle is is a goldenface.
  3. Baby two is here YAY and now I can't tell them apart The first one isn't so big that it's easy to tell. Pictures to come later since silly me forgot to take it with me for the morning check. I was thinking of calling the first one after the penguin from from toy story: Squeaker, becuase that is what he sounds like. Now I'm not sure if it was him I heard or the second one in the night now. Ohh How about I call him Squeaker and the second one Echo :(Laughing out loud): Of cuase these names/idea will changes about a million times before I settle with a name. Don't meantion them, I'm trying not to think about it, I want to enjoy the pinkness while it lasts* (*doesn't really believe that is simply trying to)
  4. Well I think Hutch is a grey/green the tail looks black to me, and in the second picture there is a patch of grey around the vent area. Grey/green and olive look very much alike. Lovey the yellowface gene can work with grey as well and a type two would get a bleed into the body that make them seem olive (or grey/green) I agree with starskie. Now for buttercup, sorry But I thought Recessive pied as well. Could you perhaps find an internet picture that kinda looks like her? Unless your camera is working now.
  5. Aww congatutions again They sound great and I hope everything goes well. After all that planning it should. Look forward to seeing how much they have grown after you are all settled in.
  6. oh of cause, all the spangles look the same Good luck there Bea.
  7. wait who is with who??? you first said Akala with Jasper and Bobbi (or Budgie) with Lemon. Then later you swapped them. I will stick with the first pairing Akala and Jasper: Blue Spangles, Blue Opalines, Blue Opaline spangles and normal blues. The babies can be cobalt or sky blue depending on what Akala gives with her dark factor. Bobbi (budgie?) and Lemon: Green Normals and Green Spangles, females will be opaline and the boys will be split for cinnamon and opaline.
  8. Should I keep thinking of a name for you? He is a great looking budgie, i just might steal him away

a year might be a bit of an overguess, but 3-4 months to breed (one clutch) another 2-3 to bond with the bird then from one to two months for the birds to settle down, that's around 9 months already. I'm not saying this is a bad idea, just to remind you that it's not going to fix the problem right now.
  10. well now others can know if they don't see that thread and I can get more 'how cute' comments :(Laughing out loud): sorry I answered this one before seeing your comment on the other one.
  11. Thanks all, I was away until now, that is why i was hoping all would be okay, sicne i souldn't stay and watch I checked right away but even after waiting for 2 mins she was not moving an inch of the nest. I will poke her soon with the pen which she wanted to kill this morning so I can see. Yes it's the second egg In my bigger sided picture I can read the number 5 on the egg next to him. I expected to have these two egg hatch close together. umm now what else was asked No Lin it was not fast for me I was itching for this day since sunday. No name as yes yet. I've been trying to think of one but I find it hard to name a pink ball and I normally don't like human type names for animals. Odd I know. edit to add: I finally got a look, well a quick glimse , of the crop as she shifted begrudging sideways for me. There is food in the crop, i'm so glad she is still being a good mum, there isn't a sign on egg 2 that the crack has grown. and just becuase I feel like it here is a close up enjoy
  12. Felt like a new thread http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....wtopic=8720&hl=
  13. Here are some pictures, the baby only made a niose when i tryed to turn 'him' over I couldn't see the crop, I hope things are good, Mum was not going to let me pick him up in the least and sat right back over him and the eggs. Fingers crossed. With mum standing watch: Is that a crack?: I noticed the line in the egg after I took the pictures, I hope its a sign that baby two is comming but I don't like the look of the dark mark on the egg

I think, Una would be able to help with the behaviour since Apple was like that to Munchie first off. Just remember what you are talking about will take almost a year and in that time Blinks will still be alone for that time.
  15. I was awoken this morning by a wonderful sound Sweet tiny chirping. I have a darling little jellybean that looks so so so tiny!!!! will get a picture later for you, I only looked cause mum was out of the box, I'm a bit worried about her not feeding since it's been almost 1/2 and hour and it's still chirping. But she wasn't happy with me looking which is a good sign. I was right about the day but the 2nd of March, day 19 for this egg. YAY I told Marine he was a very clever boy, and he started to preen just as if he understood
  16. your doing great lovey Just to be clear with two recessive pied pair you can NOT get any normal patterned wings birds. This is becuase all babies get one pied gene from the parents and is recessive pied itself.
  17. :budgiedance: all the babes will be receesive pieds so ones just like ariel are possible. You will not get any normal markings from this pair. In this case all the opalines will be female becuase Chico, the dad, is the only one to have it. It is sex-linked and is carried on the X chromosome, in budies the female has the xy so when a baby is given a x from dad with the opaline gene on it, that mutation shows up on the bird, while the males have two x and need the gene on both to show up. In this clutch the males will be split for opaline. hope that was easy enough to follow.
  18. OH Bec I didn't even know youhad eggs :budgiedance: Congratuations. You will get dominant pied and normal babies, some normal green and some grey green like dad, depending if they get the grey gene from dad or not. If Max is split for the dilute gene then you will get some dilute babies as well. I Hope you get the camera sorted soon so we can see some pictures.
  19. Yes your right Bea Now that I see the front that Sunny is a yellowface type 2 :budgiedance: As Karen said they are both young and even normal green ones can be a soft yellow colour before the first moult. I was kinda 50/50 with the first picture.
  20. Well I was going to say Caring for caged and aviary birds is a great book for info on breeding, althought not just for budgies but I found out that it was by David Alderton also and would have the same sort of info as your book. The little books about keeping pet budgies give a brief outline of breeding that can sometimes give a jem of infomation. I would head for the library and get all the books you can find to read.
  21. That yellow thing is the yolk, just like you would see if you cracked a hen egg to eat. This is the thing that will feed the young while it is growing. colours: all babies will be recessive pieds, some will be yellowfaces others white faces, all the female babies will be opaline (easy way to sex them :budgiedance:) and you might get some violets (either white or yellowfaces)
  22. :ausb: Well I didn't count saturday as one.
  23. Sunny is a green recessive pied and might be female to me, i can see whitness around the nostrils. Cheeky is a blue spangle and looks male to me. okay I thought it was odd to call the blue one Sunny but that is what your title say with the pictures, but I saw you post on another thread and say the blue one was Cheeky and the yellow one was sunny So I've swaped the names around to suit.
  24. I think opaline can be 'hidden' on a female albino because it all white anyway.
