  1. That said it all I didn't want to put him back but he started to cry and I didn't want mum to hear and rush in before he got returned. Then he didn't want to let go of my finger
  2. Oh okay sorry I misunderstood the answer then. My mistake. Females will get an enlarged vent when they are about to lay and egg but not fat all over. There might be a bit of a bump very low between the legs. But I would recomend removing the box. After three weeks if nothing has happened many breeders (I can't say all but most) remove the box and if they can return the hen and male to the flock to give a break, you of cuase can't do this bit. But removal of the box then returning it in a weeks time can kick the hen into a breeding cycle. Make sure her cere is a deep brown colour, which means she is in breeding condition. This might sound silly but are you sure you have a male and a female? It has happened before that the wrong gender was given and two males have been set up to breed.
  3. Aww that was great to see Lucky you get to have the baby cute eyes still.
  4. I love it in the Morning when Mum rushes out to gobble up the fresh food with Marine (or before him :(Laughing out loud): ) I get to have a good look at the babies. This is Squeaker. Well at lest I think so, the white is a bit more stronger on this one compaired to the other big one

thanks. I just saw the picture of him in the cage this time. :(Laughing out loud): Has Blinks noticed anything missing yet?
  6. I changed the picture to a link becuase it was too large for what the board allows. 450 X 450 pxl is the size needed. The new feathers look normal, they are itchy when they come in and are covered in a steath that protects them. I'm glad to hear he had recoved from scaly face. The flaking look might be from a weakness left from the mites in the beak (the bore holes in the beak) and shoudl grow out. just keep an eye on it like you are doing and if it gets worse or some breaks off take him back to the vet.

  9. Thanks all I think they are so cute and I'm itching to pick up Squeaker, but Mum hates me even putting a finger in the box. She is happy to let me look.

Oh my some of them are stunning The one in the second picture and another further down looks pink with the lighting.
  12. There are two different dominat pieds, the one most talk about is the australian banded pied (what we all call dominant pied here) and Dutch Pied, which is called clearflight on that site. So your right there is three types of pieds.
  13. it takes around 24 hours for the egg to hatch.
  14. Isn't it just and I got 100% hatch rate with this clutch WOOT Number Five is named Scuttle Form the little Mermaid. One of my favourite disney movies and a small link to the sea to match with dad's name. It a bit hard to see in the picture, I didn't even see him until the second time I looked, they where all on top of him. If it helps I pointed him out for you: It was funny watching them, Squeaker ( the one with the head on top) had an itch on his head and keep trying to sratch it but couldn't get his leg up while in a group like that so kept sratching Berry.
  15. I would think the same.

    Yep that's right Lovey.
  17. Yes Jimmi is strightforward she is a green normal. Custard is a opaline yellowface, and I think type 1.

I check Marine and Tootie first (8.00am) with fist batch of fresh food ready, at the moment favourite is carrot, but I add bean sprouts and corn, and either boiled egg or egg and biscuit mixed with it. Give fresh water, check seed, removing husk and replacing the lot around day three (sometime two) Check on chicks while mum and dad are feeding. Then give fresh food to the others, replacing water and checking seeds as well. I remove the fresh food when empty (or in four hours which comes first) Around 1pm give new batch of fresh food to Marine and Tootie. 5.30 remove food and cover for the night, making nightly check at the same time. Say goodnight to the others. At the moment I'm cleaning both cages weekly. but with the chicks that will move to twice and the box will be changed when needed (roughly three day apart when older) I think that's all Oh fresh leaves and branches (to chew not to walk on) when I think of it, maybe once every three weeks. Standing branches replaced when dirty, if not cleaned.
  19. I was thinking it was Bobbie or one of the other million of spangles you have. That is a stunning colour.
  20. Thanks Budgiebird No sign of number 5...yet but it's not really due until tommorrow.

great work She is a cutie, let us know what the vet report states.

Yeah What you are seeing in that parrot is the same blue mutation you see in budgies, that is th remove of the yellow. Becuase in parrots there isn't a green gene, simply blue and yellow ones combined. As DIngo said where you see only yellow in the normal coloured bird in the blue one it's white.
  24. All look good daz. I'm a bit worried about the first hen (the whiteface) her cere looks like Tooties did when I first got her and I now know it's a possible problem with breeding. Names: Bluebell Crystal (as in crystal clear waters ) That's all that came to me. Who is getting paired up with who?
  25. Ahh that helps in al the pictures it doesn't look as if there is a bleed of yellow, well now i can see the green on the tail that raibow is talking of The out come is the same, since both the type 1 and type2 genes act the same.
