Is This Normal
No not normal. Usually one hen will fight the other and distroy the egg. If you are colony breeding (not surgested) then you need twice as many nest boxes as there are hens. They should be located apart so that the fighting is reduced.

A Poem From Those That Have Left Us.....
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME, AND I'M NOT THERE TO SEE, THE SUN WILL RISE AND FIND YOUR EYES, ALL FILLED WITH TEARS FOR ME I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVED ME, AS MUCH AS I LOVED YOU. AND EACH TIME YOU THINK OF ME I KNOW YOU'LL MISS ME TOO. BUT WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME, PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND, AN ANGLE CAME AND CALLED MY NAME AND I STEPPED UP ON HER HAND. SHE SAID MY PLACE WAS READY IN BIRD HEAVEN FAR ABOVE BUT THAT I'D HAVE TO LEAVE BEHIND ALL THOSE I DEARLY LOVE IF I COULD RELIVE YESTERDAY EVEN FOR A LITTLE WHILE I'D FLY OVER AND KISS YOU JUST TO SEE YOU SMILE SO WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME DON'T THINK WE'RE FAR APART FOR EVERY TIME YOU THINK OF ME I'M RIGHT THERE IN YOUR HEART.

Yes it looks light grey to me too. This is where genetics gets fun...... Dark Eyed Clear Note the colour of the check patch. this is dad. Dark Eyed Clear Note the colur of the cheek patch. This is mum. Dark Eyed Clear Note the colur of the cheek patch. This is baby...... By the way the baby is to the current Australian Standard and Won Best DEC in the February show. Mum and Dad is penalised due to incorrect Cheek patches.... Colour of cheek patchas, Tail Quils and Tail Feathers will help with Identification but it is not always right... As you can see.
