Baby Budgie Not Flying
She looks alright. You may need to check to see if she has free movement of her wings. She is a grey Recessive Pied. Very Beautifull.

Breeding Show Varieties?
No worries Pecker. A show bird should be above 50 grams to start with. Which is a tall bird not a fat bird. Here is Ash my Cinamon Grey http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/ash.jpg he can top the scales at 72 grams but I try to keep him around 58 grams for Breeding. If you click on my signature you can see my web site and my birds.

Breeding Show Varieties?
Hi Pecker. Where abouts in Australia are you? The best recomendation is to join a Budgerigar Society. The members will help you start and give you access to Show Birds. You really can't get show birds from pet stores. Also some "Breeders" will say there birds are show birds but really aren't. I have both pet store and Show birds. A good show bird will cost between $100 to $300au. "Starting Price" They then go up to $2000 to $5000 au for the top ones.

Pens
Egg shells are porus and "Breath" any toxic substance that is applied to the egg shell can be drawn into the egg and effect the chick inside. This includes what is on your fingure tips when you touch the egg. I use a perminant non toxic marking pen and have found no problems. I also wash my hands in a disinfectant before touching the eggs.

Signs
I take it you mean her own vent area.... Good question I have never seen it in my birds but to be honest I haven't looked for it

Baby Budgie Not Flying
KerrieDan you may find there is a small deformity it has. Can you post a photo so we can see it. At 3 week out of the nest it will be about 7 to 8 weeks old and should have no problems in flying.

Brooding
It is 18 days from the start of incubation. The incubation starts on the second or third egg. I would be counting from the third egg at the worst case. I'd expect the first egg to hatch on or about the 11th June.

Budgie Breeding Help
You can get an over sized plastic egg. Put it in the nest before the eggs hatch. It will act like a support for the hen so she doesn't squash the chicks.

I Think This Is A Great Deal!
The first thing I would do is to fix the perches. They run the wrong way.

Possiable Scaley Face? Or Something Else
BrokenDreamz this is early stages of Scaley Face. Give a wipe of Baby oil on the efected spots, becareful not to get in eye or nostral. Do this everyday for 4 days and you should see an improvement.Get a good insecticide Vetafarm has a good one. Do the perches and aviary and ......... (Everything) Everytime I handle my birds I have a bottle of Baby oil. I wipe there ceres and legs and feet. Prevention is better than cure.

We Had Some Rain And The Seed Got Wet
Couple of things to consider. If the rain falls through galvinised wire it will wash the lead and zinc in to the containers. - Heavey Metal Poisioning. I would add some Avicleans (Vetafarm) to Cleans the water.
