  2. i also do this and your are right kaz the other older chicks feed the younger chicks also this carrys on to the babby cage then aviry all chick do become a lot more plump
  3. thank you dek yes i belive them to be or i would not have brought them i dont feel i wasted money just guess i like to see my birds flying around chatting up the girls and seems a bit sad if they dont ever fly i have them in a 2 meter high by 90 x 1 meter aviry at moment so fingers crossed they seem to be frightened by the room and openness as my quarrinteen room has clear roof they were in clossed shed with lights do you think i should place one or two flying birds in with them to mabe incorage them or just wait till they can go in aviry one thing the are is healthy so wouldnt be risking any sickness being passed on but would use none breeder for the incoragement flyers what you think

  5. hi well for the past 6 months i have been looking for two split lacewing cocks finally i found two with the quality i like but im not sure i want to breed them into my line (which they are ment to be starting lol) i have two really nice hens and i wanted to make sure that their quality was bettered which these boys would do but im not sure if they would be a wize move as they do not fly when i veiwed them i veiwed them in a show cage so i was not to know the other birds in the stud were all fine healthy and beautiful and the peronts ment to be very good birds dad won deplomer not that that means anything to me as i choose my birds based on their quality then their genetic background i didnt see them due to the birds were brought down from a fair way for me to veiw and buy if i wanted apart from them not flying the are perfict i was just wondering what would others do ????? im very happy with the birds but i would have never brought them if i knew they could not fly and i feel it would be insulting the breeder if i told him that i never relized they couldnt fly and did not want them so i will keep them and just learn never to buy anything unless i see it flying never just asume that as it overall aperiace is superb that its able to fly i was so happy now im so dishartened thing is i dont even belive it was a deliberate act as alot of the breeders around breed from theses birds and the chicks are fine with just the odd none flyer but i dont want even one to surfuse in my flock so i will not be using them after all and my serch will continue for two perfict split to lacewing boys they dont look at all to be french moult birds even the feathers look good but for some reason just cant fly they not to heavy i have heavyer birds i thought mabe as they were in small cage for long period they only just young and havent been able to have much flight time i dont belive other opinions please what would you do and what should i do with them as it depreses me seeing them just sitting on ground

  14. i started useing them and i been mixing 3 crushed weatbix to each nest box also to use less oates seens to work good only probblem i have with them it the price and fact that each pack only does 3 boxes when you clean theses boxes every few days this gets very expencive how often do other clean the boxes with the otes when chicks hatch i was doing dayly but cut back to every second cause of cost
  15. their good as when you comming to visit i will have the materials ready
  16. so all im going to get is green birds man i thought i would get some yellow lacewings at least um hang on yellow lacewings are green birds :hmm:  so i will get no white lacewings only yellow ????????? mum was yellow lacewing and the dad was grey bird so the / lacewing birds (grey green ) would be split blue or is that wrong and if so what do i get exactly from a white lacewing hen to grey green/lacewing cock
  17. helllllo everyone got a quick easy one for you i know the mutation out come opaline grey green/lacewing to blue based opaline lacewing hen gives rezult of lacewing cocks lacewing hens normal hens and / lacewing cocks all opaline but not sure if i got the colour expectation right as i have been told grey green only gives you green / blues or grey greens however i got taught diffrent but since i was only thirteen and have since aquired memory losss i do not bother to start the debate on colour out come from a grey green to blue breeding which by way i belive you can get blue chicks from but am told er er wrong so please explain to me with a grey green bird and a blue based bird what colours should i expect to see in my nest would i be right in saying green grey green grey yellow (being / lacewing to white lacewing pairing ) white blue oh and if cock possably holding violet could i get a violet pop up ????? or more violet greens and is it even possable for a grey green to hold violet ??? member i have only ever stricktly breed blue base birds so this green is new to me but nesasary so if im going to do this whole haeartedly i need to know what to expect hope some of you guys can help me cheers ,oh one more thing can a grey green breed blue chicks with another green bird thanks
  18. sometimes a hen can get what i call heavy when close to the lay you can tell when a hen is going to lay as her bottom is quiet large and low but ive never had one so dont know but be interested in responces myself
  19. how about i just give you some on saturday
  20. you cant always see the sheen but usually they do have one if you breed it to a dark olive or mauve or grey that should counteract it and dull the sufusion im not sure with green base birds i try to stick to blue base as its what i know
  21. i belive it is the whole change of set up not just the vit d but the freash air the new lights the whole lot it goes hand in hand i must say i used a bird room for first time and will not do it ever again my simple out side set up worked way better bird room cost heaps and was failure for me anyway so back to basics but extra vit d cant hurt so i may give this a go with show birds still trying to work out a feeding regeam for them compared to pet types
  22. elly is right what i said was to get both mutations from one bird you could do that
  23. um just keep them bonded with out the box unless you want to do another pair they will get more benifit from extra atention and you will know when they ready to go as they will both look best they ever did exept for the last time when they looked best they ever did
  24. yes lacewing green based you will get /lacewing cocks if you put her with any cock . if with put her with a albino you will get lutino /white /lacewing cocks or lutino hens so that just means the cocks put with white (albino) or blue base birds will produes white albinos or lacewings hens but im talking lutino or albino put with lutino/ lacewing cock you would get same out come but all lacewings if you put the lutino /lacewing cock to a lacewing hen hope that makes sence
