im so glad for her safe return boris being calm and trusting of you im sure helped the situation if she had a friend she was bonded to and the escape was executed and not,not a shock its not uncommon for a bird to hang around for a few days up to a week even which give a chance to plan a safe and none stressful catching and return of them i have had hens with a clutch of chicks excape and then return a day or two later they hang around hiding amongst the trees then when the feel safe know one is about they will come down to try get back to their chicks not always only the ones who themselves got out i think it has something to do with their becoming disoriented when the lose was due to fright eg cage falling crashing open ect thats when the birds usually just fly getting lost or chassed by wild birds they dont know where their home was and having so many people with avirys and birds outside in cages (even other types) they can not find their way back its a fact that if your were to tame your bird to the full extent of freedom outside and in that budgies only fly up to 500 meters surounding their home each way true .

its hard to tell in the picture looks like my mauve only she has deep violet patches in the picture his looks deep blue are they blue or violet cause its the patches that counts in mauves they can be a slaty blueish grey or deep violet grey birds just have grey patches but my brain not working at moment if im wrong someone will say its very cute bird must add looks like my mauve cock only his patches are slaty bluish

I'm on a different screen today and now he almost certainly looks a Grey!!! Cheek patches look nowhere near violet and body colour has only the slightest hint of blue tinge. I think the only true judgement can be made by seeing him first hand. Judging birds from photos is difficult and this was no more obvious than last night when my club viewed a slideshow of the 2009 National placegetters. Some of these birds looked very different to the pictures published on the ANBC site. Probably also goes to show the risk in purchasing solely from a photograph. that is the exact reason it is hard to judge any bird sometimes even the light the photo has been taken in changes the colour not just the com screen i know this very well as most my birds look compleatly diffrent to what you guys see in photo but judging for partnership quality the colour shouldnt matter if you going for quality in features so i have been told so i guess it doesnt matter what colour he is grey or mauve hes lovley either way and/ino very nice even our birds quality suffers hugley if were are not the best at taking pics so really no bird can be judge corectly with out being in frount of you i do agree with that daz very much so.

i think he is mauve of the light aspect of things mauve like grey and blue comes in the light ,medium,and dark, i think he is light catorgorie their for looks grey blue (what i call it ) if you put him to a sky blue hen one day you will find out for sure weather he is mabe mauve violet as the out come would be violet ,mauve ,mauve violet chicks i think thats right its a beautiful colour regardless
