  3. matt dog the scally patten on wing is just the feather layering she is a beautiful lutino u would get all split lutino cocks also the yellow df spangle is a green based bird mattdog as it is yellow unless it is a goldenface but i dont think so so you would only get green birds unless they both split too blue you would get all spangle out come with normal bird to df spangle (normal as in what she is masking ) and i think u get 50 percent df spangles and 50 persent spangles if the lutino is masking spangle oh by way he only looks young i would put her with your biggest best cock and get some split lutino boys for your other lute hens she is beautiful get the right cock bird the chicks will be beautiful

i got a better idea you ring fishery's and wild life the usually come and collect the bird (trap it and then relise it or house for its safety ) i had a sea eagle once for two weeks so i rang them and explained the situation my sea eagle went to hills vile sentry as thy a rear species well where i lived they were if you in country amongst farms then i suggest buying a fer rabbits and have them lose in yard they will take the rabbits over birds it works also it wont stay more that two weeks but will always come back every few months so i belive you need to ring my first suggestion
  6. no mattdog not cinnamon black but it is kind of grey its a blackeyed clear but i may b wrong only just learning to distingwish them
  7. :what: Using a magnifying glass doesn't always help either :hap: you guys ..... thats a black eye clear for sure either that or a dilute or poorly coloured grey wing  is a bit small to tell though
  8. kaz is write besides one the egg hatches the chicks if are fostered sometime hatch on same day so....defeats purpus puting in a totally diffrent birds genetic make up seems much smarter is for that fact
  9. wouldnt it just hens hopefully
  10. the boys are brothers and yes in aviary but not THE aviary i have a few aviarys dave the one they are in is for birds that i wont be breeding their is only a few in their 3 to be exact one was prolaps hen others beyond age
  11. thanks mate i can only hope as they are so beautiful and im very picky with what i buy so waited a while before even finding birds i liked just shows you that you need to really trust your seller and that its always best to ask simple questions like can they fly no matter how dumb you may feel asking it i have decided that if they dont come good and fly i wont breed them they can like live happy in their own aviary with 0ther birds that have been retired or for some reason i do not breed it may sound silly to some and a waste of two lovely boys but to me i wouldnt care if they were supper studs from top of the line quality stud if their is even a chance that a baby may pop up in future generations flightless then i dont want to be a countable for that birds are born to fly not hop or anything else so.....thats just me yeah sure i may get good quality birds with big heads and nice stance follow through ect ect but thats where i belive for me the line stops and the challange to fine others starts im just begining my line it needs to be soilid and glitch free or i will go backwards farst their will be other beautiful boys out their i just need to be pationt and wait till i can manage to fine one with the look im after and then i will be able to start a good strong line knowing that their will be no way, i may in future be selling someone a bird that possably may( probbly not) but may throw flightless birds thats not what i want to b known for in this hobby i want to be known for my dedication to keeping my birds healthy with all the quality needed to breed that winning bird i want to know for myself that my birds are worth people bringing into their stud yes im years off that but when i get their at least my birds will all beable to fly we need more people with your attitude you are going to go really well doing your show stock in time to come i just know it just one thing gb if you could change your mind and put the birds in with some others i think it would be of great benifit if they could see and watch other birds doing things like flying feeding etc you said they young i dont think they have had the oppertunity to do that this will make them more secure and very much less nervous because there is always something happening in a flight when we are not around whereas as at this stage all they seem to know is each other and it would be pretty much them sitting there which is probably why they freak out when you go in im sure it was all this that helped mine you know thanks i hope i do well as for the boys i put them into a aviary with others as i to believe they may just need time, more i think about it the more it seems to make scene i know this breeder would not of deliberately started me off on a wrong foot and also that they have good stock healthy and well looked after so... imleaving it their and will see what happens now they have some friends well i will let you all know the out come when it comes time
  12. thank you my six babies i love my hobbie i get a lot of enjoyment out of them well the only thing i can think of is its a black eyed self as as nubbly says we dont get german or scottish fellows here so my theroy is out lol but i thought as much  so birds do moult out darker than when they young sometimes twice their shade if not more by time they adult do you have rec pied and clearflight pied ( which is basically a domanant pie with out the banding ) as thats all u need to breed black eyed selfs i know you dont colany breed but nor do i and i just got two in one nest from pet types blackeyed selfs dad was a clearflighted spangle cinnamon mum a rec pied hen so and i always just thought dad was spangle as thats what everyone told me when i said he was clear flight turned out i was right when i first got him 3 years ago now he was always just with the wrong bird to get anything other than norm/ino and cinnamon hens yah if this bird isnt a black eyed self i do have these pied types you mentioned gb i havent bred any of them yet i will now  they are all over 12 months maybe 14 months with the colony breeding im not against it at all but i chose the other way more fun for me all i meant by that is i know something else dint jump on and help themselves  sometimes wouldnt be a bad idear probably make better choices than me ha can a spangle be split for these variety they happen to be show stock lines i was using a few in breeding boxes im not a show breeder bout the time she would of been born i was contrating on my crests and dominate pieds so if the crests didnt show least i had pied birds to look at ect um i know only about the types and mutations im set on breeding sorry but with saying that no bird can be split for dominant pied it is a visual feature as i believe it any bird can b split for anything provided its a receive gene in saying that birds that do carry a dominant gene can pass this dominance on eg color genetics :violet, double dark factor stuff like that sex linked verity need to sex linked loco thingys on their chromosomes to pass on the visual out come of a feature eg ,lacewing, albino, opaline ,slate birds also are sex linked even know this is a colour ?figure! so basiclly if a bird you brought was split fror anything sex linked or rececive and you brought another bird with this same genetic inheratance ,sex linked or rececive then you will most certainly have vishual featchures of these mutations poping up in your clutches (thats the fun of being a novice breeder ) however show breeders dont get as many of these suprise bundales as they do not cross certain genetics or sex linkages with certain type or colour for that matter (although some do ,it is personal choise )eg you would not cross breed a lacewing with a grey wing to get a better quality lacewing as the split lacewing cock would also carry the rececive gene for grey wing as well as the sex linkage for lacewing , any hen would recive the recesive genes as rececive genes get passed to both female and male the rezult of some one breeding these two genetic combanations when breed down the line to say half brothers cousins ect would mean grey wings would pop up in your lacewing nests apart from the fact that the markings on the lacewings would be depromentally afected so thats just a breif sum up of why its not done but relisticlly any mutation can be breed with anything else so long its two budgies then your pretty much right just in able to achive certain birds with certain qualitys it is best to study their genetic make up ,and linkages to achive the studio type bird your after when showing quality comes into the aquashion hope that all made sence and helped
  13. thank you my six babies i love my hobbie i get a lot of enjoyment out of them well the only thing i can think of is its a black eyed self as as nubbly says we dont get german or scottish fellows here so my theroy is out lol but i thought as much so birds do moult out darker than when they young sometimes twice their shade if not more by time they adult do you have rec pied and clearflight pied ( which is basically a domanant pie with out the banding ) as thats all u need to breed black eyed selfs i know you dont colany breed but nor do i and i just got two in one nest from pet types blackeyed selfs dad was a clearflighted spangle cinnamon mum a rec pied hen so and i always just thought dad was spangle as thats what everyone told me when i said he was clear flight turned out i was right when i first got him 3 years ago now he was always just with the wrong bird to get anything other than norm/ino and cinnamon hens
  14. good call but is anyone split??????
  15. dave have you thought about just some thoughs see through roll up blinds to stop wind and rain at night or bad days and then you can roll them up on hot days or nice days they work well and so many diffrent type blinds to use or buy they really are a good cheep alturnitive If you have seen my other aviary, then you will have seen the blinds I use on that one. If not, here they are. Blinds are great to have, but on sides that are not going to be opened at all, such as the side against the fence, there is little reason to put a blind when i can simply put a firm plastic. The side close to the house and the front I can potentially use blinds on. soz dave im not that observant i like have viewed your aviary heaps as i just look it but i never seen the blind always trying to squint to see your birds
  16. very nice kaz your babys just get nicer and nicer :laughter: as they ment too

  18. thats what i was thinking nubbly or the other alternate could be a cinnamon yellow or a wrongly breed fellow aparently if you breed two fellows of difrent type eg german and i dont know scotis just egzampals your out come is black eyed birds that look like fellows just a thought :laughter: They both have red eyes, though one has iris ring and one does not. Haven't heard of a combination of both - wouldn't that be normal split for both types of fallow or do they act on the same alele and cause major wierdness and black eyes? Plus there is a bit of writting suggesting that the English and Scottish fallows don't exist in Australia. Cinnamon fallows look virutally identical to lacewings but also have red eyes. Cinnamon yellow IS a blackeyed self if I'm understanding the yellow correctly as a dilute. I also had fleeting thoughts of dilutes generally but they usually have much more body colour than lacewings and blackeyes. Might be some other combination that we haven't thought of either I suppose. Still I think we need a picture for proper identification. we have english but not scottish and yes german and one of the other two have a weird reaction causing eyes to turn black a major fault as you could emadjine lol yes one has rings think its the german fellow not sure on my fellows yet plenty time yet but think english and german okay but scottish and german not ????? didnt know cinnimon yellow was a blackeyed self what about a white cinnamon bird with black eyes is that also blackeyeed self????
  19. well you could have if she looks like that got a picture shannon
  20. thats what i was thinking nubbly or the other alternate could be a cinnamon yellow or a wrongly breed fellow aparently if you breed two fellows of difrent type eg german and i dont know scotis just egzampals your out come is black eyed birds that look like fellows just a thought
  21. dave have you thought about just some thoughs see through roll up blinds to stop wind and rain at night or bad days and then you can roll them up on hot days or nice days they work well and so many diffrent type blinds to use or buy they really are a good cheep alturnitive
  22. you see when you mix rec pie and dom pie genes some times the birds markings become displased as you would know dave and some time they dont get iris rings or only one eye has them its not the done thing to do but i dont mind as these are for colour out come and prettyness not for anyother reason if i was going to breed doms for show whicch one day i may just i wouldnt have a rec pie in miles of it or visa versa if i was going to breed rec pied for show if a dom is split rec pied as well if put with a rec pied or a split for rec pied bird you can get rec pieds and doms in one nest as well as with the split rec pie you also get norms in mix
  23. they were a bargon actually so im not complaning about price besides thats the risk you take with show birds you may pay big and get nothing more than a preety bird or you may just snap up a price stud
  24. yes dav it is dominant pied mate it is badly marked as its father was a rec pie mum a df dom pie the to doms are full blood sisters the golden face ones they do have iris rings
  25. well it works better than sticking the lenz through the wire god job mate
