Budgie With Red Feathers
It is kind of hard to mistake blood with actual red feathers though..And it was born that way, when it got its feathers some were red... And I don't think he has any pics, not sure though, going to ask him when I see him next.

Why Did You Name Your Budgie?
Storm- Because she was white and grey, and looked slightly like a stormy sky. Cinder- He is a mauve colour, and in honor of a good friend of mine (it is his username on a computer game lol) Banshee- When he was a chick, I would hold him every day as I did with his brother. But when I held him, he was usually quiet, but would suddenly start screeching for about 5 minutes straight...extremely loud and seemed to drill right through your head..and then stop again. So that's how he got his name. Cloud- He was similar to his mother, Storm, and looked like a cloudy sky. Sunny- Was named by a friend

Budgie With Red Feathers
I just ran into a friend of mine, who I only recently realized used to breed and show budgies on a very large scale. (he had a few hundred birds). He told me about how he somehow bred a completely grey budgie, no white, no markings, cheek spots, or anything. (is that even possible, I have never heard of such a mutation?) He had been expecting albinos from the pairing that got the grey. He bred it later with another bird, and got one bird that was completely grey again, with one red feather. I know this guy and he wouldn't lie about that, plus, it was born like that. (ie, when it grew feathers, it had one red one) He bred this one with another bird, and got a bird with a red chest and legs. Sadly, someone destroyed the aviaries and let all the birds out a while later, he then gave up breeding budgies...but is this possible?? I've heard it's not even genetically possible to get a budgie with any red on it..let alone a heap of feathers..

Can I Take Out The Nestbox?
Okay good. I heard though that if you do remove the nest while they are still in the process of finishing laying a clutch they'll get eggbound because there is nowhere to lay.. :bluebudgie:

Can I Take Out The Nestbox?
No she has no babies at the moment, and the one egg she has is only one day old as of today.

Can I Take Out The Nestbox?
I don't want my budgie to raise a second clutch, but she's already laid one egg and another is due tomorrow...should I take out the nestbox and remaining eggs now, or will she get eggbound because I took out the nest and she'll have nowhere to lay?

Storm And Cinder
Storm has laid an egg today. I haven't taken out the nestbox as of yet, because I still want to see if, because I've now fixed the roof, she'll settle down and continue laying..If she does chuck this egg out as well, I'll take out the nest and give her a long break. On the subject of her throwing this egg out...should I put a container with say, cotton wool in it, under the perch, so that when it falls it won't break? Then I could try to put it back under her...Should I try that, and if so, if she still rejects the egg what should I do with it?

Normals
Unless the green is split for blue (ie, had one blue parent and one green) you would get all greens, split for blue. It doesn't matter which sex is blue or green.

How Do I Introduce New Birds Into The Aviary?
Okay thanks. They have been quarantined, so I'll do that then..

How Do I Introduce New Birds Into The Aviary?
Not sure where to put this post, hope here's okay. I need to put 4 birds into an aviary with a couple other birds soon. (2 are related to eachother and the birds in the aviary, there are 2 bonded pairs) How do I go about introducing them to eachother? I can't do what you'd do with cage birds..

What Colour Babies Could I Get?
What colour babies could I expect from a Mauve/Violet (Mauve/Violet, ie, 1 violet factor over mauve) Recessive Pied female paired with a YF1 Sky Blue/Violet male?

Storm And Cinder
Okay. I forgot to mention, but this probably also is why she's doing this..the lid of the nestbox (I have it on the top of the nest) was loose, though I didn't realize it..and it fell in on the nest..twice..Before I got it fixed..could that have been why she was throwing the eggs out? Because it stressed her out? Its fixed now so it won't happen again..

Storm And Cinder
Storm has laid a total of three fertile eggs...and pushed all three out of the nest the day after she laid them. Ie, laid one, next day pushed it out of the nest, day after that laid another, day after that did it again..What could be causing this? She has laid 3 clutches (not in succession) and been fine with all three..and now this one she is doing this..What can I do? The drop from the nest to the floor is about 3 and 1/2 feet, so no eggs survive..Help

Toilet Training
I had a friend's budgie that was 'toilet trained'..when it needed to it would go back to its cage, instead of doing that on its owner's shoulder, hand, wherever else it was at the time. I have only seen one budgie do that, though like Liv said, with other parrots I've seen it more..

Budgie Wanting To Start Second Clutch
lol sorry to bother you all again, but I have one last question. The baby has been eating etc..but she has also been sleeping a lot. (a lot more than I'm used to with my other birds) Could this partly be because she is young, and also because she wasn't being fed very much recently? Or should I be worried about her sleeping a lot.. A lot=whenever she isn't eating, she's sleeping, pretty much.

Storm And Cinder
Hi Here are the two soon-to-be parents: Storm; (Violet Spangle Opaline Clearflight Pied) Cinder; (a Mauve Normal/Recessive Pied, he's the one closest to the camera) Today Storm laid the first egg (of her second clutch)..so I'm going to make a breeding journal about this pair, hopefully I'll get some help with any problems I might run into on the way. I'll try to update it as much as possible. (ie, every day or so) So hang on, and soon we'll have more little eggies I hope! P.S.: Sorry about the not so great photos..they aren't the best ever taken of Storm and Cinder.

My guess is would be girl.

Budgie Wanting To Start Second Clutch
I'm still not completely sure whether or not the baby has mites..it wouldn't do any harm to treat them all for mites anyway would it?
-
Budgie Wanting To Start Second Clutch
Oh..great. I'm not sure if she has mites..can you just tell on their flight feathers, or on all their feathers? Because her flight feathers have markings on them that could be her normal markings or mites..

Budgie Wanting To Start Second Clutch
"Be sure to check her crop before nighttime for signs of a full crop. Always check her bottom for signs of poopiness. A poopy bottom is signs of ill health but also in babies is a sign they arent eating enough to form a normal poop." Yep, will do..here's hoping she will be okay. Okay, I'll do that too..after she's been eating fine for about a week or two, do you think it would be fine to move her into the inside aviary I put the weaned babies in until they moult? I'll check for mites now Liv. Are they contagious? Ie, if she had them the nest and/or her parents may as well?

Budgie Wanting To Start Second Clutch
Update: She's eating seeds just now..All it took was me actually putting her in the food dish (which was on the ground for her) and now she's eating like there's no tomorrow..I have her half-brother (different father, different clutch) in with her in hopes he may feed her or he would eat and encourage her to do the same..he didn't feed her, but he did eat some seed..and she got interested and ate with him. Maybe she'll continue to do so now she realizes she can eat the seeds..And yeah her keelbone is is sharp Kaz.. She wasn't puffed up at all except when she was sleeping..the rest of the time she just sat there, preened herself..And no staining around the vent at all Liv.
