  1. 50!!!!!!!! wow kaz that is amazing they are lovely birds, nice and big, i envy you being able to have some many. I adore the little pet size birds but absolutly love the big chunky ones they just seem so proud and showy, i cant wait to breed my club birds. Good luck with your new additions and let us know what your plans for them are :fear
  2. Charlie looks beautiful i only ask about the wings cause it looks you might have taken abit to much off, i tend to leave the last 2 or 3 feathers ( the longest ones at the outer edge of the wing) so that the little bub doesn't go splat when it does try to fly. It is good idea to clip them when you are trying to tame them but i don't think it is really needed after that (they need to fly to be healthy and happy) it is a good idea to put the perches front to back in the cage instead of side to side so they can fly between them and he would love some natrual wood perchs so he can chew on them and exercise his little feet please anyone correct me if i am wrong about the wings
  3. cool i never thought of sanding the base, i might give it a go cause there is always those stuborn spots of poop that wont come off and yes i would love to keep my eyebrows and my hair for that matter (trust me i could do it)
  4. Hi Marlo just would like to know if you have cliped his wings? It looks like you have from the pics
  5. Hi Marlo congratulations on getting Charlie i am sure you will become fast friends, ask any questions you, like that is what we are all here for cant wait to see some pics Charlie
  6. HeHE thanks for that Kaz but knowing me as i do i think i will leave that technique for the experts and stick to the bleach idea
  7. thanks guys i thought about bleach but wasn't sure cause of them being so sensitive to chemicals
  8. Hi guys some advice please? i have some breeding boxes from last year that i cleaned but they need to be disinfected, what is the best thing to use?
  9. I agree with neat, check out that web site it has some very helpful advice. I always check on the progress of my breeding pairs, the hen might carry on abit but she will be fine, check that they are being fed remove any dead chicks quickly, check the chicks over and remove any build up of food around the beak and poop from their feet. You can handle the chicks from day one, they wont break i promise and it helps to get them used to you and being handled that way when they come out of the nest you will have happy friendly birds. Good luck with you babies:D
  10. Hi Rusty and welcome, you have some beautiful birds there, i especially like Popeye and Charlie.
  11. Thanks guys i will give your suggestion a try, i have never quarantined my birds before nor have i had club/show birds either so just wanted to make sure i was doing everything to help them adjust and be happy, i will give your suggestions a try and keep you updated on their progress
  12. Hi I would like to put my budgie Jordan up for Budgie of the month Thanks Charlie2479
  13. Well everyone, i got on to the breeder of Penny (as it turns out all my girls are from him) and he reckons she is an albino after all, he doesn't breed lacewings so i thinks i will pair her with Zac after all. Thankyou all for your replys anyway, will let you know what happens.
  14. Yeah she doesn't look like my albino cock Zac either, a lot have gone with Lacewing so i am going along with that, now i just have to find a lacewing cock here in adelaide (hmmmm should be interesting)
  15. :bluebudgie: Thanks for that Tam i didn't realise, will go do so right now, i didn't use the glue that came with it for that very reason but it never accured to me about the bell
  16. LOL thanks guys that was great, had a good laugh :bluebudgie:
  17. Hi everybody just wanted to share this with you (it made me chuckle), I was trying to take some more pics of the new girls for my records and i think jordan got abit sick of it or just decised to be abit of a clown I reckon she is fast becoming my favourite
  18. i thought that might be the case i have only had them since saturday. penny is 4 and the others are about 1 i think( their bands are from last year) They are club birds so i was thinking that maybe they are not used to toys and people
  19. Hi everybody, just a quick question, how long should it take for my girls to settle in. They are in quarantine at the moment ( which i have never done before), in my spare bedroom there is plenty of light and fresh air and they have some toys but all they seem to do is sit there, very little noise, the odd chirp here and there. they are eating and drinking and they all look healthy, the rest of my birds carry on like pork chops and are never still for long. Thanks Charlie PS here is a picture of their cage pps can you believe it as i go into take the phote Penny and Jordan have finally decided to come out and explore(Penny was only out yesterday cause she escaped while i tried to take pics of her)

  22. Hey hope these help abit, had another look at her this afternoon and i think she has some red in her eyes but it is a real dark red, whenever i took pics of her with the flash they came out red so that didn't help any and she also seems to have darker wings to the rest of her body, i feel abit silly that i didn't notice before but they are so faint its ahrd to see it anyway hope these can clear this up, thanks for your help Charlie
  23. okay cheers Kaz will do this afternoon am off out now to get them a play gym to keep them amused while being quarantined
  24. hi everybody, last nite i read some of the pinned notices of mutations and colours and it got me thinking, so i went to check it out this morning and discovered that Penny my white hen doesn't have red eyes ( she has black with a white iris) and if you look real close she has very light cinnamon spots around her neck ( where a normal budgie has black) so i am no longer thinking she is albino can anyone tell me if i am right and if so what she could be? Thanks Charlie
  25. Thanks guys, I might try and find the breeders so i can find out more detail
