  1. I really like the yellow df spangle. He stands out to me in all of your threads and your signature.
  2. Psittacine beak and feather disease. Similar to french moult but worse. Beaks grow very long and do not stop growing, vents dirty all the time, birds find it hard to breathe... etc. Its a very rare condition and some how I managed to breed it. Dont know what I am going to do.
  3. Thank you Kaz. Looks like the grey opaline baby has pbfd...
  4. I am now a member of the Ipswich City budgerigar club. I bought 20 rings today and saw all the birds at the show. They were all amazing quality birds. I did not stay long as I had to go into brisbane but it was a fun enjoyable time.
  5. Thanks Daz for the explanation.
  6. Its a good size, needs more bird wire on the front. Take the front sheet panel off and put bird wire from a foot up to the roof. Like it is at the moment they would get little sunlight and little air flow. You can make a safety door with shadecloth and a piece of wood. If its cheap I would get it and modify it.
  7. okay do you ever get any problems with them
  8. You have plenty of birds and they are all looking very very nice. I'm thinking about getting a pair of lovebirds, or maybe even ring necks. Well done.
  9. Shannon do you colony breed your cockatiels?
  10. 4 babies so far for pet one. Going to my first show tomorow, and hopefully will be joining when I'm their. Cant wait.
  11. Kazzy I agree with you on the sexes, Last one looks hen to me. First one may also be hen, I cannot see the cere well enough. Very nice babies also.
  12. It depends how old the albino is... At adult age the albino would be a cock because a hen albino would have a brown cere. If the albino is a young baby then it could be hen. I say its a cock.
  13. Thankyou Renee for the Explanation.
  14. Daz do you have your own line of birds? I dont understand how it works. You get birds from specific breeders lines and breed them together, how would you create your own line? If you bred a Gary Armstrong bird with a blair and pool bird, and kept breeding their children on and on for 10 years. Would they still be Gary Armstrong and blair and pool line? Or would they be your line?
  15. Well done Shannon, Im impressed.
  16. okay did you end up buying the birds today.
  17. Hows your breeding going now? How many babies so far this year? Any about to hatch?
  18. Iwasnt trying to offend you shannon. He looks nice now, well done.
  19. Light green spangle, could be cinnamon aswell, A closer picture of the wings would tell me for sure.
  20. I am really confused shannon. You got him at the pet shop right? and you put him in a quarantine cage with babies so he could feed them. you said he has staining because he has been feeding chicks, so how can that photo be 2 years old? When did you get him? When did you put him in a quarantine cage? When did you put the babies in the quarantine cage?
  21. He should be by himself when he is being quarantined. I would move him if I was you, he could have any number of diseases and spread them to the chicks. How old are the chicks?
  22. Shannon, May I ask why would you buy a bird with that staining around his beak from a pet shop? Did you isolate hin for 30 days.
  23. Hi. When I first started cabinet breeding I thought it was so hard, and it wasnt working for me either. Some hens neglected males, some sat in the box all day and did not mate. If after 4 weeks being in the breeding cabinet and she has not layed, split them up and give them a rest. Change the pairs around if you want also. Some hens will not mate with cocks, I dont know why. I had a pair that fed eachother and loved eachother so much, but never laid eggs. I split the pairs up and changed them around, and both the cock and hen bred with other partners.
  24. Posted By Neville on Jan 12 2009. Some hens are in condition most of the time but breeding condition peaks about every 42 days You can find the post here: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=Breeding+cycle
