I dont see how either, they both have clear flight feathers and both look the same. I havent been able to spot the difference. What do you think my bird is genericblue? Cobalt? she looks to dark for cobalt but to light for mauve to me.
  2. Excellent News jimmy.
  3. They are very nice Maesie. My friend has about 10 rats and they are quite tame, It is funny watching them communicate and play with eachother. Do they need to be quarantined like budgies?
  4. I agree with everyone else about the lorikeet. Im not sure what type he is, I just want to say he is very nice and colourful isnt he.
  5. Excellent job splat. I knew this big bloke would win. I love this bird also. Nice trophies aswell. Well done.
  6. Very informing explanation sailorwolf. Thanks very much.

Which quails? King quails take 18 days to hatch (from when the hen starts incubating). Button quails take around 15-16 days to hatch.

okay thanks very much *Nerwen*. I do not know how to tell dom and clearflight pieds apart YET
  10. okay so people dont show birds that are 4 or 5 years old? Has their ever been a really old bird that has won the nationals? Have any members of this forum won the nationals?
  11. okay yeah the down feathers are the fluffy feathers on the birds back right? do only opaline birds get that white down feather? What if the bird is green series? Thankyou.
  12. Does the winner of the nationals go on to another bigger show? or does it end their and they go again next year. Thankyou all.

Does anyone know if it is violet? is she a clearflight pied or dom pied?
  14. That chick has alot more markings than mine, what do you think mine is *nerwen*?
  15. I Agree.
  16. That cage is definitly too small and those dome cages are the worst. They give no room for the budgies to fly.
  17. Their will always be people on different sides of the argument. personally I dont know which is better, I just listen to the advice I get from the forum. Next time I see the vet I will ask him what he reccomends, their will always be a difference of opinion .
  18. Theirs downsides to not giving preventative medication and downsides to giving preventative medication. We just need to work out which downside is greater.
  19. Thankyou heathrow and melbournebudgies, who did vic lose to?
  20. Thank you Melbourne budgies
  21. Hi. What is the biggest show of australia? Where all bird breeders from every state come together and show? How often is it and where is it? Also, I noticed In the UK their is a world show, do australians go to that? Thankyou.
  22. Thankyou all for the help. Ripbudgies, I am thinking they could be recessive pied also, but that would mean that both parents need to be split rec pied... pretty odd chances. Shannon, That is a pet ring because this baby is a pet bird. I only ring my show budgies with 09 rings. Daz, Could that baby be an opaline? I did not know opalines had white back feathers like that with little wing markings. Chances of it being opaline are higher than recessive pied. Thanks all for the help.
  23. okay Neither do I, thanks for all the help everyone.
  24. Hi. A light green opaline spangle hen paired with a skyblue cock produces: All green chicks (Providing Hen is not carrying blue) 50% spangles 50% normals. Some cocks will be split opaline. Is this correct? One of the chicks from this pairing has small patches of blue but the rest is white, kind of like a df dom pied or somthing. He cant be dom pied because no parent shows the gene, but he could be recessive pied? Here are some pictures What do you think?
