  1. Does your husband have nest boxes in his aviary and is he breeding the birds? Would one pair sucessfully breed in an aviary that size?
  2. I have one aviary remember I was getting it ready for finches. It is around 4 meters by 4 meters and is concrete bottom. Still need to add some wire but its looking good.
  3. okay So I would definitly 100% pair her to the spangle. You would get blue chicks and you would get spangles.
  4. Excellent birds as always splat. He is still my favourite.
  5. okay That would be good. Maybe a pair of princess parrots instead of finches for me.
  6. Personally splat I would pair her to one of the violets. Purley for colour reasons. We will wait and see what other people have to say. She is a very nice bird. Thinking again Maybe the spangle would be a good choice. You would get some spangle chicks (Spangle is my fav mutation) I'd prefer blues over greens, though. To improve the chicks show quality I have no idea who to pair her to. Possibly the big df spangle yellow in your signature.
  7. its a bird with feathers that constantly keep growing till eventually looking like a mop or a duster. The bird dies at a young age because it uses all its food and energy on its feathers, and eventually goes blind. They cannot fly either.
  8. They need lots of space to fly Jodie. I would recommend at least 3-4 metres by 3-4 metres. Could a pair fit in that size area kaz?

I have a male with testicular cancer and his cere is dark brown with blue spots. Looks like a hen until you see him upclose.
  10. I put the ring on him and it just slides right off. I find that the bird is around 9 days old when I ring mine, does that indicate that the bird will not be big in size? Everyone I know rings their birds at like 5 days of age, If I did that the ring would just fall off. The parents are cobalt cock masking opaline and yf blue hen. How is a pied possible? Maybe the chick is just opaline.

One on the left looks hen to me.
  12. I wish my aviary birds would fly and sit on my shoulders when I go in the aviary. I've seen a picture of a parrot on your husbands shoulder on msn.
  13. does your husband have any other birds with the princess parrots kaz? Can any birds be in the same aviary as princess parrots?

Your hen could be a male, Post a picture to be sure. How old is she? I would not breed her until atleast 1 years of age, same with cocks. The hens cere goes whiteish blue when out of coniditon, then goes light brown coming into condition. Followed by dark brown crusty cere when in peak condition. The crust then falls off and the cere goes light blue again. And the process repeats. Breeding condition cycle goes for 7 weeks. The only way I know how to get ahen into breeding condition is to put them with a male.
  15. Is dna sexing expensive?

Thankyou for the comment. I put the babies in small bowls because its easier to take pictures. If I put them on a flat big surface I would never get a still picture. They will always try to get to the smallest place and snuggle in. Put some baby budgies on your shirt and you will see what I mean.
  17. Followed by second This fellow will be rung in a few days
  18. The colour looks violet to me, as daryl suggested. Pet parents
  19. They are enjoying the vegetables kaz. I like them all but the yellow and pink one stand out to me. so does the white one by himself. Is it hard to sex princess parrots? Very nice.
  20. I love this one Kaz.
  21. Yes I will post the parents aswell daryl. They are pet type birds and I do not know what they are masking or split for.
  22. Birds looking excellent. Well done.
  23. I agree with genericblue. Salt water is really good for eye irritations.
