Most show breeders do not breed that close Pearce................cousins yes brother and sister...most do NOT Kaz - A lot of breeders including myself bred father to daughter and mother to son. I would say the most DO breed that close. I know a breeder that paired Brother to Sister by mistake, and the chicks turned out really good. In saying that most of the times that i have heard brother to sister pairing they have ended up being culled out. I regularly pair half brother to half sister, which is good pairing if the common parent is excellent. I agree, excellent info Heathrow.
  2. Hi. Is it possible to get a skyblue yellowface greywing chick? Anyone have pictures? Also. If both parents are not showing greywing visually, and you get a greywing chick, that means both parents must be split greywing right?
  3. that is awesome Daz. Very well made.

Alot of the uk breeders do it to increase size in their flock. I will find you some good websites on it. I suggest you do not inbreed unless you are more experienced

I know show breeders who breed father to daughter and mother to son Kaz. and as I said in previous post I do not know anyone who breeds brother to sister, does not mean it has not been done.
  6. aviary 1 - looks good to me. Pictures do not allow us to see close enough, I cant see if their is any wire on it. Its a big aviary so yeah I like it. would definitely fit your budgies and cockatiels. Aviary 2 - Another good aviary. Some of the roof is not covered so that would been wild bird droppings would easily get into the aviary and cause disease. You could easily fix that though. Doors are a little small but it depends how small you are. Is their a divider between the two aviary's? Aviary 3 - Not as big as the other ones. They are selling birds with the aviary and I thought that was illegal on ebay. Looks in good condition. You would need to remove the nest boxes.
  7. Lest we forget. Did anyone go to a service?

experienced breeders do inbreed for better birds. Father to daughter and mother to father I think. I dont know anyone who would do brother to sister. I would not suggest doing it unless you are really experienced and know your birds. Problems can occur, budgies born with deformities.
  9. wow they look really nice well done. Interesting about termite mounds, do the termites eat the eggs?
  10. Thankyou Daz. So I will get 25% df grey greens, 50% 1 factor grey greens and 25% 0 factor grey greens. Right?
  11. I get my bird seed from stock stores. Trill is one of the better "pet shop" brands but I've never used it, waste of money for me. Try Riverina, or Cob and co. Dont know any other good brands. Try some stock feed stores or farm supply stores. You will know if the seed is junk quality. Good luck.
  12. thankyou dean. Exceedingly short flights I beleived to be a stress moult, these birds are confident flyers now so all is good. The stunted growth chicks I have no idea about. They are 39 days old, yet look like 20 day old chicks. They get all the proper nutrients from my end, so Im not sure. Its been suggested that the parents arent giving correct nutrients to them, im not sure. I ended up removing the fledged chicks out of that nest into their own cage so the parents can concentrate on these stunted growth chicks. Do you have any suggestions on the matter? Their are no feather mights., The deformed beak was because of food caked to the beak overnight. The beak actually is improving at the moment and its looking a little better, hopefully it will be a full recovery. Here is the picture of the bird previously. The dead chick was a runt, it hatched a day early and was not fed. Do you have any suggestions for me dean? Any would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou .
  13.
  14. had a few problems this breeding season. chicks with deformed beaks. chicks with stunted growth. Dead chicks. Infertile hens. An escapee. 2 babies never grew flights. 40 day old chicks at the stage of a 20 day old chick. Hopefully it will pick up.
  15. is she actually eating it or just playing around with it. thats what most birds do with cuttlebone, they play with it and not eat too much. I've never made calcium blocks before so I cannot help with that,
  16. i know tiny is female. I noticed the wire when uploading the picture and I was waiting for someone to notice. silly mistake on my part.
  17. thankyou both. I knew it was 25% no dark factor but I did not know if they were greens or grey greens. It call confuses me. I dont understand this dean. If you have two grey greens (1 dark factor each) then you have the following breeding outcomes: 25% Light greens 50% Greens 25% Olive Greens I thought I would get grey green birds from this pairing?
  18. thankyou Liv. I cannot wait to see tiny at 42 days old.
  19. Thankyou dea. The 25% with no dark factor, will they still be grey green? So their is 0 dark factor, 1 dark factor and 2 dark factor. all look exactly the same in grey greens?
  20. its the flash kaz they are definitly cinnamon.
  21. what is in her diet?
  22. tiny day 11
  23. thankyou all for the opinions and I am slowly taking it all in. Pairing a grey green to a grey green does that reduce size? How many chicks would be df grey greens? whats the difference between a df grey green and a normal grey green?
  24. most of the pet shop workers do not have a clue what they are talking about. If you ever need to go to a pet shop, go in and get what you want and go out. Your know more about your birds welfare then pet shop owners. They will try sell anything for profit, they will give you the wrong med's, the wrong seed, the wrong age babies. Cant trust them. I cant wait for pics and good luck.
  25. My shed is also dynabolted to the cement slab Dave. Good luck.
